Why are you going to nagoya instead of narita?

- Mike - 02-07-2006

suzuka is closer to nagoya than tokyo. after 2 days in nagoya/wherever we head to suzuka. after suzuka we're heading to tokyo (and maybe north) for the week and then way down south to kumamoto for the supergt race the next weekend and then back to nagoya to head home.

how are you guys getting around? i hope you have these buses and trains figured out, just dont take taxis.

- Mike - 02-07-2006

we haven't really crossed that bridge yet. for long trips we're rocking the trains.

Can you rent cars in Japan with a U.S. license?

i wouldn't want to...driving on the left side (on the street) and right side in the car...plus insurance and all that....probably not a good idea

Just get to know the trains (as you said), its def the best way to get arround there. Even if you were to drive, the tolls and such are unbearable. The only reason I drove from Tokyo to Yokosuka last year was because we have a US navy car, other than that we took the train to tokyo, yokohama, etc etc (everywhere essentially).

same. in my experience, even if you are a great driver here, you'll likely make a mistake when you travel to such a country. i'd much rather play it safe and sue public transportation.

Just FYI, the bullet trains are expensive as hell. The city trains arent bad though, about a dollar and a half will take you anywhere you wanna go, withiin reason

- Mike - 02-08-2006

$370 gets a two week pass on the bullet trains.

How much for a week Airship pass?

ban. i'm probably one of maybe 3 people here who know what you're talking about.

- Feersty - 06-28-2006

Its on my schedule.

I almost spit coke all over my keyboard.

Why the hell did I say that?

Maybe i had a lapse and forgot racing made me broke.

- G.Irish - 06-28-2006

Yeah I'm fokking stoked. Starting to learn Japanese now, already bought my F1 tickets. Now we just have to lock down where we're gonna stay and get our Super GT tickets.

<--- Late to the thread

I'd definitely hit up VIR again for an AMA weekend. I had a great time when we did that a few years ago.
