Liar

Bobo chrome for life!

I have to use that bladder you said I never would just to prove you wrong.

- BLINGMW - 08-08-2007

Any experience with this Teknic stuff? Our local place doesn't carry it, so I can't check the quality myself.

Their sizing actually looks like it's made for taller people (longer sleeves), anything bad about the brand? There's an ebay seller selling their jackets for ~$175 shipped.... Confusedhock:

Teknic is "ok". Its on the cheaper end, so its going to be heavier, not as comfortable and not hold up as well to abuse or crashing.

- stevegula - 08-08-2007

I've got a 1 piece teknic. I think we all agree I'm a crash happy fella and my Teknic has held up well enough (including a long 50mph slide).

- BLINGMW - 08-08-2007

Dammit I can't tell what's going on with those jackets.... looks like they're Cordura on the chest and arms, so that wouldn't cut it, would it? Sad

- .RJ - 08-08-2007

Having mesh/cordura/etc that breathes in the arms, legs, etc is good - you need some breathe and stretch room.

- Ginger - 08-08-2007

My Teknic gloves (~$120 model, I forget exactly which) disintegrated during a fairly low speed crash... won't be buying them again.

- .RJ - 08-08-2007

Someone change andrew's user title to "crash test dummy"

- BLINGMW - 08-13-2007

burn burn burn....

gloves - those MotoGP's Ryan posted about
jacket - Teknic
boots - Teknic
helmet - HJC

all ordered

Almost have the back/chest protector picked out, I think the Icon Field Armor vest will do it for me.

Aren't the HJCs banned from some track events?

- Ginger - 08-14-2007

Some HJC's are, but not their entire lineup.

- Mike - 08-14-2007

chan, i'm assuming you tried an hjc on locally before ordering? i've got an oddly shaped head... only 1 in a dozen helmets fit me correctly...

oh that's really great. I read they're decent helmets. You say some are banned. Wonderful! :? Which ones? WTF are they banned?

I did and was rather impressed, very comfortable.

But fucking worthless if they're banned. :? Oh great, I found the article. The CS and CL series. That's all? only 2/3rds of their lineup, and I ordered a CL-15.

- BLINGMW - 08-14-2007

yeah... same one I found. I don't actually see any "data" here to really give me any concern. Any follow-ups to this article or anything? I'll keep searching and find some dirt.

- Ginger - 08-15-2007

It's a kneejerk reaction to some nasty incidents involving the lids. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it... things will cool off and they'll be reintroduced eventually.

- Apoc - 08-15-2007

I rocked an HJC for a few years and thought it was a nice balance of cost and comfort. I then dropped the cash on a Suomy and realized what my extra money was getting. I don't have any reason to believe the HJC is any less safe, I just feel safer with the Suomy on.

FWIW, I wear my HJC whenever I don't want a tinted shield but I prolly wouldn't wear it on track.
