Do you really think you're going to put those kind of mods into an ATS before it's out of warranty/you have traded it for something else? CTS-V also already has depreciation hit. That's a good point. Dollar for dollar you may be able to enjoy the CTS-V for less total cost because of where it is on the depreciation curve. Would have to factor in fuel economy and consumables though. I mean, I realize the V makes a difference, but I'd think alarms would be going off in your head. I feel like we're being punked or something. I remember when I put my deposit down on my 04 STi. The salesman tried to sell me on a 04 WRX and use the $$ saved to mod it to be faster than an STi. Sure I probably could've done that, but its still just a WRX. There's just something about having the flagship model. My vote is CTS-V. You'd be essentially getting your Corvette while satisfying your old man Caddy comfort needs. Get them to throw in a free watch for you too! Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - G.Irish - 07-01-2013 Usually when people make the ol' "mod the lower model to be faster than the higher one" argument they forget a very pricey component. Brakes. Yeah you could put a bigger turbo, intercooler, injectors and what not into a WRX and smoke a STI in a straight line. But when it comes time to slow down... And usually a big brake kit is at least $2000, if not more, unless you buy brakes off someone who crashed their car. I'm not talking mod vs. buy out of the box 'cause everyone knows I'm an outta the box kinda guy. I'm talking about the fact that if Lee got bored after two years, chances are a beastier version of the same model ain't gonna do it. I'm not sure any car is gonna fit the bill, but I'd think there's just too much similarity not to be wary of it. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - SlimKlim - 07-01-2013 Here's a completely off the wall idea. How about a brandy-new Buick Regal Turbo GS? 270hp Turbo 4, which presumably has a little room to grow, and a manual transmission is an option. Look pretty cool too: ![]() It is fail wheel drive though, if you care about that sort of thing. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - WRXtranceformed - 07-01-2013 Interesting.. I had not considered the Buicks. The good news is that you can option out an ATS with a lot of the same performance features as a CTSV (Brembo brakes, LSD, magnetic suspension, etc.) but you are probably right in that I am not going to go all out and heavily mod a fresh car under warranty. CTSV is making more and more sense. Dang it, 8mpg is going to suck. The question is, would a mildly modded optioned out ATS keep me happy? A tune and some bolt ons is realistic because I do that to every car....pulling off intercoolers and turbos is probably not going to happen. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - Kaan - 07-02-2013 and Tiger Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - WRXtranceformed - 07-02-2013 Biggest endorsements ever, non-existent brand recognition except among old people and the Chinese. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - Jeff - 07-02-2013 The Chinese love them some Buicks. If have such a big hard for the CTS-V why not an SRT-8 300? I know the 300 is a larger car but the tech stuff in it now is fantastic and the 6.4L Hemi is NUTS. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - JustinG - 07-02-2013 Jeff Wrote:If have such a big hard for the CTS-V why not an SRT-8 300? Because 90HP less and Autotragic. Oh and Lee, $589 + Tune = 630ish WHP. http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merchan ... e_Code=LPE Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - Jeff - 07-02-2013 JustinG Wrote:Jeff Wrote:If have such a big hard for the CTS-V why not an SRT-8 300? I thought he said he wouldn't mind doing automatic this time? Maybe I misread. As for the 90hp less...ok... I bet lee plans on track days or drag racing this car all the time. Who gives a shit in a luxobarge? I know Lee loves huge not-useable power in a street car, but I just never did see the point. 5.7L is plenty quick to cause a mess in the pants. Hell my 6.7L Cummins will cause a mess in the pants, 100MPH in a something that big comes QUICK at WOT and it can be a little hairy. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - JPolen01 - 07-02-2013 Win all of the stoplight drag races. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - .RJ - 07-02-2013 "I'm young, into cars and have $40k to spend, I should go look at a Chrysler" - Said no one, ever Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - Jeff - 07-02-2013 .RJ Wrote:"I'm young, into cars and have $40k to spend, I should go look at a Chrysler" - Said no one, ever Iulz. You would be surprised. Just buy the CTS-v already... Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - fiveoh2go - 07-02-2013 If you do get the V, prepare yourself to forever be corrupted by its freight train torque. A factory blown, modern American V8 is soooo much fun on the street. I know with my old car the blower made it feel as if it had doubled the displacement size of the engine. Anything less than a V8 packing a positive displacement blower will prob leave you wanting after that car. Get the V. Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - WRXtranceformed - 07-03-2013 ![]() http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale ... 4331&Log=0 Re: New (to me) vehicle suggestions - *insertusernamehere* - 07-04-2013
