Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-10-2013 Well a box came in the mail last night: What is that inside?? ![]() The JDM Third Brake Light that i ordered:
Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-10-2013 I am taking today and tomorrow off due to the 27 hour shift i pulled this past weekend. I figured I might as well install the new JDM Taillight since it was nicer out today than it has been. Here is goes... ![]() Remove the bumper. It is pretty simple. Just have to remove 8 clips and then tug. ![]() With the bumper off, remove the plastic piece at the bottom (in this photo, I have already done that) ![]() ![]() Here is that plastic piece removed: ![]() Once removed, you need to cut out the middle section: ![]() After this is done, you can reattach the outside pieces back to the bumper: ![]() Next you want to install the clips provided in the kit ![]() After that, you simply slide the housing into this spot on the back side of the bumper: ![]() ![]() Screw it in: ![]() Looks like this: ![]() Now the fun part, reinstall: ![]() Attach the wiring harness and go though the rubber stopper. (the kit provides its own stopped to replace the stock one) ![]() ![]() Connect the wires to the rear taillight harness and you are all set: ![]() I wired it to be on whenever my taillights are on. PS: Dan, dont give me shit about how dirty the car looks! Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - ScottyB - 01-10-2013  i like the pace of this project thread! looking good man. I agree about the pace, however, I don't think my girlfriend enjoys it. :/ Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - premiershine9 - 01-11-2013 Looks great! Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - Kaan - 01-11-2013 did you buy wrenches yet? Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - JPolen01 - 01-11-2013 Looks great man! Get some night time shots. Didnt buy wrenches yet. ![]() But I did run into Ryan Davies last night who I haven't seen in years and offered his garage and tools
Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-13-2013 I was a little bored today so i decided to test fit the Enkei RPF1s. Couldn't wait any longer.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, I promised some pics of the JDM Third Tail Light: ![]() ![]()
Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - JPolen01 - 01-13-2013 Looks great! The jdm tail light sets it off nicely. Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-13-2013 Thanks! However, now I notice the wheel gap...
Project: 2012 DGM WRX - Jake - 01-13-2013 Random: why did you get 19's versus 18's? Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-13-2013 I wanted 18s, but stumbled across a deal for these wheels. The previous owners car looked great with them. I've gone back and forth whether or not they are too big. They probably are. But I'll run them for a bit. Project: 2012 DGM WRX - JPolen01 - 01-13-2013 FlaakCM Wrote:Thanks!Yeah I didn't want to say anything. Needs lowering with those wheels for sure. Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - Dave - 01-14-2013 Until I saw the pic for the wiring, I was having trouble understanding why you had to pull the bumper off. Still seems like you could have have gotten your fingers to that grommet without the bumper being off - seems like there was enough space if you were patient. No? I've heard of other people being able to do it without taking off the bumper. You could probably do it if you have small hands. I actually had to use a flat head screwdriver to pop those grommets to release the plastic piece. Don't think i could do that without taking off the bumper because of the rear crash beam. Also, to run the harness and get it though the plug, I'm not sure how people do that without taking off the bumper. Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-20-2013 I placed an order for bilstein struts and sport springs from RaceComp Engineering. Question, do I need to order top hats for struts or only for coilovers? Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - ScottyB - 01-20-2013 no need for the struts, it should be bolt-in. hope they turn out great for you, everyone seems to love RCE products. Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-21-2013 Thanks Scotty. I have only heard good things. I also have talked with Myles, the owner of RCE (i bought the 19" Enkei RPF1s from him directly) and we talked about going that route over coilovers. Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-23-2013 I am not usually one to use my horn unless a really serious situation is occuring. That being said, I finally got tired of the weakness of the subaru horn. The times I do have to use it, it sounds like a mouse sneezing. There is no audible noise to the stock horn at all. Well, that leads me to the next thing I purchased. The Hella Supertones kit. They should arrive in a few days. Now, I am trying to decide if I want to paint the housings of the horns. They come in red. I have a dark grey car. I am okay with the red, but I dont think I want to keep them red. I have some dark grey metallic spray paint, I also have some neon orange spray paint. I am not sure if i want to go with stealthiness (dark grey) or go with LOUD and OBNOXIOUS (neon orange). What do you guys think? |
