So here's where I'm at.

I don't feel the dealer has really wronged me too terribly. Sure they sucked at diagnosing the lights and speakers, but I'm MORE mad at VW for such shit workmanship on the vehicle itself.

Let's propose VW took the car back. I have no idea what I'd want to DD more than a GTI. What's even out there that competes at the same price point? The SI,WRX,FoSt are miles behind the GTI.

Mazda 3 hatch is the answer.   We got my wife one last fall, leather, nav, 3 pedals, out the door under 20k.  All I've had to do in 15k is change the oil, which the dealership does while I sip coffee in their lounge.  On the street it's just as much fun as the GTI and I don't have to screw around with it.

But really, who cares for a commuter car?  You are getting a track car to take care of the "fun" driving, it doesn't matter (which means you should be getting a tow capable truck/suv).  Drive that when you want to play on the street.

Is VW buying your car back? Why are we proposing this?

Is it being fixed?

You need to buy a truck not another car.

and here we are. another potential Raptor owner. let's do this.

They are fun cars. Plus, what you lose in performance, you make up for with your car actually working.

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Sijray21 - 12-21-2018

it's a shame they don't make the mazdaspeed3 anymore. that was a fun car (albeit horrible for fuel economy).

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Jake - 12-21-2018

Homeboy wants to build an E36 track car. If the GTI goes away, it's gently-used truck or SUV time.

Tell VW you want an Atlas with the V6.

The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - JPolen01 - 12-21-2018

Stop. VW is not taking the car back over a door speaker and overhead light. Mazda wouldn't take our CX-5 back over a full blown non working infotainment unit and 8 trips to the dealer.

I already told you about the lemon law and you refused to listen. We settled with Mazda for $5k and they paid they lawyer's fees. Took the cash and traded in the vehicle and never looked back.

You can expect a settlement to compensate your time for the back and forth and time spent off work dealing with it. It's next to impossible to get a manufacturer to take a car back.

But don't listen to the guy that was successful with this when everyone else said it couldn't be done.

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - .RJ - 12-21-2018

you know, you dont HAVE to tow the car to the track.

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Gordonovski - 12-21-2018

My aunt works at a law firm specializing in lemon law, so I'll say that unless VW will buy back out of the goodness of their heart (which they don't have), you'll have to sell it if you want a new car.

And agreed with everyone else. If you do want a new car and are buying that E36, buy a truck now or focus on maintaining the GTI so that it'll have some resale value for when you need to get a truck to tow.

You guys are so behind the times. Its 2018, he needs one of those new Tesla semitrucks

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Jake - 12-21-2018

I think a GMT800-based SUV would be ideal. Maybe a 2005 Yukon Denali. They look nice in Bermuda Blue Metallic.

RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Senor_Taylor - 12-21-2018

No, I don't think they're going buy my car back.

No, I don't think the car is anywhere close to Lemon law.

No, I didn't ignore you polen.

No, I don't want to daily a truck.

What do I want? Idk, give me a discount on a Helix Subwoofer installed by the dealer for my troubles or something, also fix my shit so when I do go to sell it, it's actually worth something.

You all are arguably just a ridiculous as me. Collectively as a group you've suggested that I disown VW forever, while also saying that's it's not a big deal. Also proposing lemon law, while saying it's not a lemon law car.
