Page 19, almost a year ago exactly.

I reply and dont look at dates, big deal. hopefully you didnt take the bike to that shit hole. anything to bash that place.

bike has not moved much in the past year. two short trips to dc, to the store a few times... now it sits.

- HAULN-SS - 05-01-2009

I'll trade you 800$ for it

some parts came in... minus some fasteners, it's a real bike again!

oh... and i need to get it running... shouldn't take more than an hour or two.

Re: Mikey's '97 VFR - Mike - 09-05-2009

bikes suck.

pulled the carbs so rj can work his magic. the final step was to remove some cable in the front of them... as soon as the screw comes loose, it's gone. i search, search, and search. i finally realize it may have fallen into the intake plenum? (is that what it's called on a bike?). oh wait, it looks like the valves would have caught it! no, those valves are open... shit. i search, search, caitlin searches... nothing. i finally decide i need to pull the motor apart. with about 20 seconds left before the head is completely off, i notice something shiny stuck on one of the carb boots, across the garage. it's the mf'ing screw. so much for two hours of my life.

so... rj.... i'll be making a delivery someday soon Smile

Re: Mikey's '97 VFR - Mike - 04-30-2010

drained the tank. powered the lawnmower just fine... think it may have been good enough. pulled the floats, made sure the pins all moved nicely... need a 7mm wrench to pull out the things the jets mount into, clean them up, reassemble, reinstall carbs, reinstall radiator (pulled because i thought i had to when i thought i had dropped a screw INSIDE THE MOTOR, but i found it later that day), put some fresh gas in the tank, fresh battery, and she should run as good as new! ride her over to the new place, put it under a tarp and forget about it for another few years (kidding... just need to get some fasteners and bolt it all back together).

Re: Mikey's '97 VFR - Mike - 05-15-2010

got it running. not running well, but i think it could get me the 3 miles i need it to get me with only a handful of stalls Tongue could be the shitty gas it's running on; i wasn't able to drain the tank 100% and i didn't put anything fresh in it. will do that tomorrow.

Re: Mikey's '97 VFR - Mike - 05-16-2010

new gas, adjusted the idle... she's running perfectly. wow. exciting. i had to ride it around the block too Smile

Re: Mikey's '97 VFR - Mike - 05-24-2010

Hah... rode it to the new place this weekend. Still a kink or two in there, but shit, that's fun.
