That's probably why you keep changing your argument... to stick to your convictions that about McCain and BCRA. It makes you look like a fool, but... as you stated... you don't care about appearances.

Where have i changed my argument?

I have stated McCain should have stuck to his word on voting no on BCRA.

We, apparently, disagree that him voting yes on a budgetary procedure was going against that. I believe, as i stated above, he should have stuck with his conviction and voted no because it's a bullshit procedure and, as most senators believe, it was really just a referendum on BCRA. You all believe that it didn't go against that because it wasn't, in the strictest sense, a vote on BCRA. I mean, i guess that's fine, i just think it's a horseshit excuse.

Somehow, you all believe that him voting no, on a bill that isn't BCRA, is somehow coming through on his word. It isn't. It's a different bill. Its a different bill that he nearly voted yes on anyway. It's a different bill that stood a snowballs chance in hell in becoming law. No one should have voted yes and i refuse to grant him credit for doing so. So i don't see where in any of this my position has changed?

I'm all for having an solid open discussion, so there's no need for calling me a fool unless you're going to breakdown some actual reasons why.

Well 10 days into the job and what, about 7 hours into the new Chief of Staff and Scaramucci has chosen to "resign". http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/anthony- ... d=48952277

Man so Charlottesville, amirite?

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - WRXtranceformed - 08-14-2017

Man people done lost their damn minds. What the heck is wrong with these people? Life is too short to harbor that kind of hate, that's not what we were put on this earth for.

Any word on what happened with that VA State police helicopter that went down? I heard it happened but I didn't hear why. They were just surveilling the protests right?

I mean it was related, but not related. The media is trying to make it seem like a cause and effect situation. The helicopter was there doing helicpoter things and it crashed I believe when leaving. Sad that two people aboard died but it's not like the protestors shot it out of the sky.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - SlimKlim - 08-14-2017

They don't know why yet: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/virginia-state-troopers-killed-in-helicopter-crash-monitoring-charlottesville-clash/2017/08/13/56649702-803d-11e7-b359-15a3617c767b_story.html?utm_term=.9e27051651ab

TLBig GrinR; It was a couple miles away from the protesting, the cause is undetermined, no distress call went out before they crashed.

I'm curious to hear the NTSB findings, sounds like it'll be a week or two before anything is released. Very sad, though.

We were around the area all weekend but avoided downtown on Saturday. We checked in to our hotel around 3:00 and the front desk guy told us the entire thing had broken up around 1. It's amazing how a small group (of mostly out-of-towners) can transform a part of a city on such a large scale. For those who were at JMU for Springfest in 2010, it felt like that. Absolute chaos, contained to a few blocks, with complete normalcy everywhere else. Given where we were all weekend, you'd have no idea what happened.

Maeng and Jenn took us to brunch on the downtown mall Sunday morning and most of the restaurants/shops had signage up with thoughtful quotes. Many restaurants were donating proceeds to help those affected by the violence. The "free speech" chalkboard wall had some great things written on it. Charlottesville is not a violent, mean-spirited place and it was good to see the "real" side of things Sunday.

I'm all for free speech, and can almost-kinda-sorta see why some people don't want these statues removed. But "peacefully assemble" in the first amendment is different from "run 20 people down with a Dodge Challenger."

Trump's response was the fucking worst.

Re: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - SlimKlim - 08-14-2017

I know it's not the correct mindset to be in, but I can't help but fantasize about how we need a real life Aldo Raine and Bear Jew to take care of this ugly little neo-nazi revival for us.

yeah this for sure.

You definitely aren't interested in peaceable assembly if you show up with pepper spray and baseball bats and makeshift fucking flamethrowers. C'mon guys.

I can't say I know a ton about the situation but I am legitimately impressed it did not escalate more than what happened. Like Rex said, people came ready for a gangs of ny style fight scene and the police didn't shoot anybody. Big kudos to C'ville and Statey LEO's

The governor was on NPR this morning. No shots fired, nobody went to the hospital (excluding the people hit by the car), and no property damage occured.

While a loss of life, and injury is always terrible to hear. I'm glad we are pointing out the positivity in the situation. This could have escalated quickly, and it really didn't for the most part. Local LEOs handled it well, citizens handled it well. Charlottesville isn't on fire.

No. He should have voted no originally and not even let it move forward. I'm with Ken. Being a POW or having cancer has nothing to do with him being a shitty human being. I can separate those qualifications from his legislative career :dunno:

Still think he's a "shitty human being"?

“I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried,” McCain said. “Nor could I support it without knowing how much it will cost, how it will affect insurance premiums, and how many people will be helped or hurt by it.”

As shitty as all of this is, I'm loving watching it go down. Can't wait to see Trump's upcoming twitter tantrum.

I feel you. I can't really do anything about the shitty beyond my own little domain, but it is pretty incredible to watch.
