Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 03-29-2010 Anybody have a leather jacket I can borrow for a few runs? I'm really tempted to run the bike since its going to be so warm. Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 03-29-2010 DavidL Wrote:So I guess the question is- Is it worth it? Driving two and a half hours or so to watch people run? What kind of cars should I expect to see out running? That's why you need to run yours so it won't be driving that far just to spectate  There's usually a wide array of things running. Bikes, 4 wheelers, old school muscle, and i'm sure there will be a fair amount of rice we can make fun of. Re: Drag Strip Night - Goodspeed - 03-29-2010 If it's cool w/ somebody I may just ride along and chip in for gas, not running a 17 (yes I know its an 1/8th, still a 17) in my Miata so no real point in driving myself out there. If I still had the arpus I'd be so driving this. flintster55 Wrote:Anybody have a leather jacket I can borrow for a few runs? I'm really tempted to run the bike since its going to be so warm. Do you just need a regular leather jacket, no pads etc? If so I have a couple that may fit you Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 03-29-2010 Yea I think I can just wear a regular leather jacket but I'll call tomorrow just to make sure. I'll def let you know soon though Re: Drag Strip Night - DavidM - 03-29-2010 Do you not have your riding gear here? They can't possibly let you wear a standard leather jacket but say a padded riding jacket is a no go? Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 03-29-2010 I have my gear here but my jacket is mesh. The site says you have to have a leather or kevlar jacket but I think I'm going to call tomorrow just for clarifcation Re: Drag Strip Night - Jake - 03-29-2010 Goodspeed Wrote:If it's cool w/ somebody I may just ride along and chip in for gas, not running a 17 (yes I know its an 1/8th, still a 17) in my Miata so no real point in driving myself out there. Re: Drag Strip Night - Ken - 03-30-2010 Of course we finally do this on the weekend i'm not here. FML. Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 03-31-2010 Ok from the sound of things at the meeting, since so many people are going to be out of town this weekend, we're going to give it another shot sometime soon. I vote for the 16th and hopefully we can go to Eastside since it's quite a bit closer for all of us Re: Drag Strip Night - balactm - 04-01-2010 Jake Wrote:youngin...Goodspeed Wrote:If it's cool w/ somebody I may just ride along and chip in for gas, not running a 17 (yes I know its an 1/8th, still a 17) in my Miata so no real point in driving myself out there. Re: Drag Strip Night - DLingenfelter - 04-05-2010 After the Show saturday I went over to east side with a friend and we watched the test and tune till somebody in a foxbody mustang puked his diff all the way down the track, they shut the thing down at 8:20pm because of that. After watching some of the footbrake cars, honestly, I wouldn't feel bad about running my miata at all. It was $10 to spectate (was hoping my MM shirt would magically let me in for free) and $20 to run or something, I totally would have paid the extra $10 had I known it when I came through the gate. I have an actual TRD leather Co. riding jacket you can borrow if needs be... No Kevlar inserts but its a good thick riding jacket.. Let me know! Re: Drag Strip Night - Ken - 04-06-2010 Let's do thissss, i thought 16th was an autocross? Could be wrong. I should have my summers on by then so im game. Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 04-06-2010 16th is a friday night just like last time. There is an autox on Sunday the 18th I believe Re: Drag Strip Night - Ken - 04-06-2010 Sweet, i'm in. Re: Drag Strip Night - Goodspeed - 04-13-2010 So are we going/what time are we leaving? Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 04-13-2010 Yep I'm still planning on going. What time can everybody leave? 6ish? Re: Drag Strip Night - Jake - 04-13-2010 I'm good for anything after 3. Maybe grab early dinner on campus (Festival?) and roll from there? Re: Drag Strip Night - fiveoh2go - 04-13-2010 Jake Wrote:I'm good for anything after 3. Maybe grab early dinner on campus (Festival?) and roll from there? Anybody up for eating at Wrights in Staunton (think Mel's in American Graffiti) first and then taking 250 to the 'Boro? Re: Drag Strip Night - flintster55 - 04-13-2010 Wrights looks delicious so I am up for that. But looking at the schedule Eastside is having races only that night and the entry fees are pretty high. So it's going to have to be Natural Bridge if we want to do anything besides spectate really. I don't mind making the trip though since it's still not too far away and I really want to run the bike during a Test and Tune so I can get a feel for it. |
