I majored in Biology and Finance; Bio is definitely the tougher route. That said, it is a good precursor degree for a Pre-Vet route and by the time you take all the recommended courses you'll probably be really close to the major/minor anyways.

One thing I would HIGHLY recommend is that if you're serious about Pre-Vet, go meet with somebody at a Vet school now (VT?) and establish a connection with them. Find out how they view a non-Bio major applying to their school and what they recommend that you do if you want to go that route. They may serve as a great resource in the future and getting the advice as a freshman can be a huge help in determining the courses you want to take in your college career.

I wish I had done that...

Edit: I'll be happy to share what little wisdom I have in this area, as I wish I'd had somebody to point me in the right direction when I was a freshman.

thanks so much for that information! im not positive if that's what i want to do yet, i've always known that i wanted to work with animals though. and yeah i got accepted into the VT wildlife program and i sort of regret not going, but i do plan to talk to someone about it and i'm also in the process of setting up a job at my old soccer coach's roommate's vet clinic so i can get some first hand work and see if i enjoy it. but thanks so much for your info!!

Re: Shanna M. - balactm - 11-27-2009

Thats a great looking car. You should definitely start autocrossing this season, that's always a good idea. Smile

Re: Shanna M. - balactm - 11-29-2009

How far from school do you live? We can probably figure out how to get your car up here for some events. We have ways. 8)

I'm only about an hour and 45 min from jmu. I've had my car up here a couple times if it's a big event I'll probably bring it up. If I go home for a weekend I can bring it back and use my friend's parking pass or keep it in my other friend's storage.

Hell yeah, we also have off campus members with places that dont check parking or have visitor spots, and someone could take you to get it on a friday or saturday before an autocross. Badabing, badaboom. 8)

Re: Shanna M. - flintster55 - 11-30-2009

Yep my place doesn't have passes and there's always lots of spots. You could leave it there for a semester and nobody would care. So bring it up!

Re: Shanna M. - Lov3myDC2 - 11-30-2009

ok sounds good! i want to do some security mods to it over winter break like hood latch relocation and fuel cutoff and such because of how easily it is to steal a honda/acura. my friend just got his stolen from harrisonburg and another one was stolen from fredericksburg where i'm from. so i don't feel comfortable leaving it up here until i have more security. last time i left it up here overnight in an apartment complex i got keyed on my quarter panel Sad but thanks so much for my car's hospitality and i'll be sure to bring it up once she has some more security Smile

Re: Shanna M. - flintster55 - 11-30-2009

Just unhook a few plug wires! Problem solved

Re: Shanna M. - Lov3myDC2 - 11-30-2009

haha or take out my ecu each night blahh. i hate having such an easy-to-steal car.

Re: Shanna M. - BLAIR - 12-01-2009

Clean car.. and welcome to the club..

Since the theft thing came up I might as well throw in that my sisters civic si had her spoiler stolen her freshmen year at JMU and her wheels stolen another year.. Would be scared to have a honda.. But.. im sure youll be just fine.
