Re: HellaFlush - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-14-2009

Hope he has a much better turbo setup than ole David Goodspeed, that car had no problem getting sideways, but due to laggy turbo and sluggish throttle response it was hard to keep it sideways, absolutely no throttle modulation. However, that car is sexy!!! Goodspeed, you should have thrown a small ass turbo on it, rpf1s, and mucho boost, and it would have been a lot more fun. Maybe not as much as a miata Tongue

I believe they're running the t25/28's on theirs. not sure, haven't looked into it. But if they are, that turbo's pretty small and doesn't have much lag. That's what my motor has lying in the garage for the build, pretty much ready to go on. I've slid my buddy's s13 with his SR w/ t28 and that thing was a beauty to handle. So ya, I think it should be a little better than what you recall from Goodspeed's turbo.

My idea of "HellaFlush"....

Re: HellaFlush - Jake - 09-16-2009

^^That's hella meaty if nothing else. Those rear tires could feed a family of four for a week.

Because headphones are rice? :dunno:

Maybe you should take a peek at my intro thread in the Introduction forum to see pics of my old STI (Travis's current car). That's how you build an aggressive powerfully tuned car without looking ghetto. Removing the hood of your car to show off your engine bay is about as ricerboi as it comes.

Oh and btw, those are the winter wheels in those pics with Hancook winter tires, it used to have nice gold Advans that were HellaFlushy0!!

I resisted for weeks...

It's called "HellaFlush" because it doesn't fit the definition of "JustRight"

12.5" under the fender beeeeeooootch!

Notice, I didn't claim "HellaFunctional".

Re: HellaFlush - N0VA_zEnKI - 09-16-2009

ya my definition's a little different. Being able to fit a fist in between isn't flush to me. but that's me....

Whatever you say man.

 Im sure its a fantastic car... thought we were on the topic of being flush?

For me, my taste comes mostly from the drift scene I guess. Talk about needing to be functional, these guys wouldn't be able to run these slammed setups if it wasn't "functional". Take my friend Kiely for example...

Dude tears it up! hah. But my taste is it's gotta be flush in the realm of offset, and git rid of that fender gap! Suspension play is minimal with the stiff setup, and any play that does occur plays under the fender, not rubbing or hitting anything Smile
But that's my 2 cents

yeah, I wouldn't consider mikey's mom hellaflush either

Re: HellaFlush - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-17-2009

Yeah cause slammed crappy japanese suspension is the way to go......*rolls eyes*

There is a difference between "functional working" and "optimally working". I like the slammed look with no fender gap but I dont go under the pretense that it is "functional" in terms of the best the car can be setup. My SC was going to be slammed ( have the suspension in the garage, and a set of stretched tires on wheels 225s on 9.5s), so dont get me wrong, I love the look, but its not the "right" way to do it. We cant all complain though, some people have radios in their "track cars", technically you could lose the weight and ya deee da da, but there is a limit between functionality and what you want.

That said, I love the look, and part of the drift scene "style" is to be ghetto/pink/crazy. Its part of the slide or die mentality that its got to be a bit flashy, in drift competitions its not always the best one at drifting, its the most stylish/outlandish. Some people just dont get the scene, I at least respect it, not necessarily agree with everything they do.

Re: HellaFlush - Mike - 09-17-2009

i saw a car like that this weekend (also a vw). i laughed. it looked like his tires would pop off if he tried taking a corner hard... do they sometimes?

Re: HellaFlush - Steve85 - 09-17-2009

That's just it...they are NOT flush in the realm of offset. The rim clearly sticks out past the fender. If you want to run the tire right up to the fender, fine, but do it with a proper fitting rim and tire. I don't have anything against imports/drifting in general, I just don't really get this look.

Your friends car is quite different (and I like it) than most of what is in this thread and on that site. I doubt the VW above or the Lexus on the first page handle or ride very well.

I could remove the fender gap with a couple 22mm wrenches as the rear spring is completely ride height adjustable. I just don't see the point in risking banging up my fender when I hit a damn pothole or some shit. "Rolling" a plastic fender is a little tricky so until I get around to it...
