- Dave - 04-23-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:Guys, Unlikely I'll have anything to paint by then, but if you do it on the 10th I'm definitely interested in joining in on the antics. - Goodspeed - 04-23-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:Guys, I'm in, my exhaust needs some flat black and Magnaflow polished tips STAT.
- Maengelito - 04-24-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:Guys, I can't do either weekend but if anything, I'd be interested in just getting the hardtop on my Miata done. If you guys wanna practice on that, I can get it up there somehow, or maybe Dave can take it in his truck if he's towing whatever car needs to be painted? - PDenbigh - 04-24-2008 "I can't be there but I'll LET you HAUL my top over and PAINT it FOR me." What do you think we are? Paint bitches? :-) - PDenbigh - 04-24-2008 Here are some ideas on making the booth, courtesy of Dave and Google: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=122009 http://www.mckennasgarage.com/xke/jag_25.htm http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Paint-B ... our-Garage http://community.webshots.com/album/61919910OiWAHW I'm going to build one. If it is successful, would MM have a place to store it if I donated it to the club after I'm done? - PDenbigh - 04-24-2008 CaptainHenreh Wrote:You may want to shoot jeff an email and see if the garage's paint booth is available for use? It's entirely possible that it's not, but... Good idea. If anyone sees him care to ask? I'm not sure they want a bunch of first-time painters in their booth but it's worth a shot! - Maengelito - 04-24-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:"I can't be there but I'll LET you HAUL my top over and PAINT it FOR me." haha, I can get it there and its not like a critical part so if you wanted to use it for practice, you can, thats all I'm sayin' - Gs dewd - 04-24-2008 If this turns out to happen let me know and I can give ahelping hand. I have alot of knowledge in body work and painting cars. I have a couple write ups on where I restored a 65' mustang it was a cool project. And it turned out great. - PDenbigh - 05-02-2008 Update - I am doing this on the weekend of May 17th Next weekend will be final prep on the car. More bondo, lots of sanding, etc. I'll get all the supplies after that and we'll make this happen. I still haven't decided if I'm doing Single Stage or 2 part with clear... - white_2kgt - 05-02-2008 PDenbigh Wrote:I still haven't decided if I'm doing Single Stage or 2 part with clear... Single Stage. Much easier to 'repair' in the future, much cheaper, much easier, much faster. I see no downsides to single stage on anything other than a 100% outside car or a show car. - PDenbigh - 05-02-2008 Ok  - jongp3 - 05-02-2008 i'm down for some moral support, my car is no where near ready, nor do i have the means to get it read for painting. I might consider painting some removable parts(spoiler, hood, etc) at some point. Where should I buy paint in the burg? I know there is a paint supply store on South Main is that a good place? - white_2kgt - 05-02-2008 jongp3 Wrote:I know there is a paint supply store on South Main is that a good place? Yes, that's where I use to buy my paint. - PDenbigh - 05-03-2008 Yep, E&M Auto Paint and Supply. Tell them you are with Madison Motorsports. - Goodspeed - 05-06-2008 I won't be able to make it on the 17th actually, I'll be out of town. Good luck with the painting guys. - Gs dewd - 05-11-2008 Hit me up I am down for it. Just let me know where. - PDenbigh - 05-11-2008 XR is well on its way to being "prepped!" RS 500 parts are all on and secure, glass is removed, badges are off, and waiting for some skim coats of bondo to dry. Next step is to sand it all, wash it, and see where I need to go from there! Also, I found this site: http://www.autobody101.com/ . I have been learning quite a bit from it. Download their e-book. I just did and will read it while waiting on the bondo. I'm looking forward to this! - PDenbigh - 05-15-2008 I'm watching Saturday's weather closely. If it is raining the event will be postponed or canceled. Check back here for updates. - Andy - 05-16-2008 Sorry Pete. I should've told you that I would driving Shenandoah this weekend. Anytime that happens, there's a 70% chance of rain all weekend and guaranteed 100% chance that it will rain at least one day. - PDenbigh - 05-16-2008 Ha, thanks alot man~ It rained here all night and is predicted to continue all day, so I am hoping that this front gets out of here by tomoorow and the fun can commence. Then it'll rain on Sunday so Andy doesn't get upset ;-). |
