i'll be there pretty early friday as well as i'll be in between jobs and have nothing better to do. i really liked the hyperfest spot so assuming it isn't muddy, i'm going there.

- Chris - 08-20-2007

Mike, where is the paddock spot you like? I'm fine with anywhere, just save me a little space. Not sure when I'll be arriving yet, but probably early evening on Friday.

Maeng, I'll split a room, just give me the details of where and how much. Thanks!

- Jewels - 08-20-2007

So there is no place on the registration thing at the top for those of us that are working this event. Thanks guys.

yeah really, it would be nice to know who all will be there.

- jongp3 - 08-20-2007

I'll be up there this weekend visiting a friend.

I hope more people show up to this, I will be going to watch/hang out, hopefully get to ride with someone.

- Apoc - 08-20-2007

I wishing I could register for Racing and Hating.

- Mike - 08-24-2007

aight so i'll be there ~5:30 and i'll be paddocking in the exact same spot as hyperfest. if you're getting there earlier, it's in the woods on the 2nd "alley" in, right on your right as soon as you get past the single-car deep spots.

Hey mike, wouldn't 3-4 days of off and on rain plus a shady spot equal shitty place to paddock.

if it does, look for me elsewhere, but that's my first choice Smile

sweet weekend... really starting to figure out summit main again. pulling some pretty f'ing good speeds, but just dying on the straights. the need for more power is now.

maeng, what is your speedo showing at the end of the front straight?

Mentholated powder on your balls makes you feel like a MAN!

wow very eventful weekend for me!

Saturday's first session was good, just nailing down the line. Second session an E36 bmw dropped s shit load of coolant in the braking zone going into turn 3. I hit it as he was only 4 cars in front of me and it felt like someone tapped the back of my car. Luckily I kept it on track but 4 cars weren't as lucky, ending up in the gravel. Third session was canceled due to rain and lightning.

Sunday's first session was fun. I finally had an instructor who encouraged me to try new things. I worked on trail braking into turn one and driving several corners off line. Second session I began making a pass on the same E36 bmw between turn 2 and 3. As I pulled out to pass a deer bolted across track from the left right in front of me. There was no warning and luckily I was able to get on the brakes to avoid it but it slammed into the side of the E36, flew up in the air, and landed behind us!! It dented the side of the bmw and scared the shit out of me. Third session I was solo and pushed a little more than I had been. I spun all the way around coming out of turn 5, facing on-coming traffic. As soon as I started to spin I knew I had to get out of the way. No sooner had I stopped and a 911 came in fast. He was able to stop enough as I dropped the clutch and got off track fast...

All in all an awesome weekend. I'm really confident with Summit now that I've driven it 6 weekends. I tried a different line between turn 5-6. I stayed straight rather than swinging out to the left, and just apexed early into 6. It actually worked out really well and my instructor tried it out himself and enjoyed it.

Great seeing everyone like usual! Can't wait for the next event.

Yay, very fun weekend. First weekend as the new announcer! WOOHOO A/C all weekend FTW!!! Also, the minivan did what she was born to do, hit the track for some hard touring laps!!!!

Rex- "Now, that right there, that would be scary at speed."
Me- "What?"
Rex-"That...rocking and leaning."
Me- "Oh, you mean the boat effect?"
Rex- "Yeah, its more like a rubber dingy in the middle of the North Atlantic."

- Andy - 08-26-2007

Ahh...Two months of no track is killing me. I hope you all had a good time.

- Nis01 - 08-26-2007

Sounds like a pretty exciting weekend Chris. Wish I could have made it out. Sorry to hear about your car trouble DJ, glad you were able to make it to the track. I'm pretty pumped to try out Summit, perhaps avoid the gravel traps though. Big Grin

quityerbitchin, I haven't been on track since Feb. :-)

It was ungodly hot on grid this weekend, but the Sat. storm put on quite a show for us and gave a nice repreive from the heat. Sunday wasn't so bad, but was rough when the sun was out. It was great seeing everybody!

Highlight of my weekend was getting to ride in the blue 260Z that's always at the track. Totally confirmed my plans and gave some insight on things I want to take care of...

Collin was the instructor in the BMW and he's wondering if anyone has video of the deer hitting the BMW, were you running in-camera or do you remember anyone else around when it happened?

I had a great time this weekend. Though we missed the all hands meeting on Sunday due to leaving early on Saturday and missing the rain at the track that postponed the autobaun race. It was Africa hot at the track on Saturday, but Sunday was a little better.
