- MadFrog - 07-06-2007 .RJ Wrote:RJ did not call any hotels..... but I did check online, and that weekend was blocked out for all of the big hotels in danville. Not sure what the deal with that is. I havent checked for rooms south boston or roxboro either. hmmmm, wonder if we could all just crash at Tara's?
- .RJ - 07-06-2007 :twisted: - MadFrog - 07-12-2007 and we may be able to stay at Tara's. I'll know for sure next week. If we do, I can count on everybody to behave themselves, right? - .RJ - 07-12-2007 .RJ Wrote::twisted: I dunno about the rest of y'all but tara owes me on couch space from when I lived in (that shithole) atlanta. - GreenFlag - 07-12-2007 Want to stand trackside to watch the AMA races? If any of you guys have experience with motorcycle racing/track days, there is a possibility that you could work trackside at VIR for the AMA races. VIR and AMA flaggers will be manning the corner stations, but there is a need for responders and "extra hands" on most of the corners. If you have corner experience with NASA or other car clubs, that would be good, but working motorcycles is a whole different animal. Anyone who is interested can drop me a note at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:greenflag@comcast.net">greenflag@comcast.net</a><!-- e -->. I'll be glad to answer questions, or at least route them to the VIR flag chief and get back to you asap. Steve - GreenFlag - 07-12-2007 Update: I am hearing that AMA is paying about $80 cash each day (Thurs-Sun). Also, it sounds like worker camping will be free (in a designated area). Since it is an AMA gig, they are going to be pretty serious looking for folks with motorcycle race experience first, warm bodies last. It's hot as heck and the action can get pretty crazy, but the view is amazing.
- .RJ - 07-16-2007 <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.racing2savelives.org/signup2007.php">http://www.racing2savelives.org/signup2007.php</a><!-- m --> Racing 2 Save Lives is running a charity event on south course Tues - Fri... I'm thinking about signing up and heading down a day early
- MadFrog - 07-17-2007 Got the OK from Tara for us to stay at her place. Everybody still in? - Dragon - 07-17-2007 I'm a maybe, and I'm debating whether to camp out at the track or not. - JohnC - 07-17-2007 I'm still in. Jess might tag along, and we're also on the fence about just camping at the track. - Ginger - 07-17-2007 I'm still in. - .RJ - 07-17-2007 Can one of y'all call the track and find out what the deal with camping fees for those coming in on motorbikes is? Edit: <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.virclub.com">www.virclub.com</a><!-- w --> - G.Irish - 07-18-2007 I'm in but how far away is Tara's place? If it's too much of a ride I may just camp too (gotta get use out of this new tent). Either way I'll be there. -G - MadFrog - 07-18-2007 I think she's about 30 minutes away. - MadFrog - 07-19-2007 Called VIR - it's $50 per camping site, one tent per site. expensive. - Apoc - 07-19-2007 I found a hotel that has rooms. $10 gets you the details.
- .RJ - 07-26-2007 I just called VIR, and they clarified that it is indeed $50 per vehicle even for motorcycles. This is rather assinine, and I'm going to write an email to the VIR manager about it, but for now I'll just plan on 'camping' at Tara's place or a hotel room. - .RJ - 07-27-2007 The VIR manager wrote me back - he seemed reasonable about it, and said he'll look into doing something like a group motorcycle camping pass for the future... its too close to the event to make any changes for this year, so thats understandable. - JohnC - 07-28-2007 With the pending move and trying to sell our house, I'm out. - MadFrog - 08-02-2007 ok ya'll. Tara would like to get an approximate head count. So please chime in if you plan on crashing at her place. And if you are, I will be asking you to pitch in for a pair of tix for her and her boyfriend to the race. Seems only fair since they are letting us stay at their place, and it will be cheaper than hotel/camping. |
