See everybody else at the honda pavillion. - stevegula - 01-15-2007 Anyone get photos they can share? I never made it out there. - Dragon - 01-15-2007 I got a few while walking around w/Marc, Liam, and Crain, I will post them later tonight. - Ginger - 01-15-2007 I didn't take pictures... everything's all over the internet and in the magazines already. I wrote a little show review, though, if anybody cares: I don't go to these to see bikes anymore. We see everything in magazines and instant e-press releases, we know everything there is to know from cocky test riders, and the freebies seem to get worse and worse every year. Call me spoiled, and you'd be right. Heck, I live in Northern Virginia, I won't be surprised when I see a Desmosedici RR at the local bike night. But. There's always a but. But I still go every year; one of these days I'll talk myself into molded earphones, last year I bought a Vanson from the great folks at Batley Cycles there, and, I mean, how often does a guy get a chance to chat it up with the grassroots heros from BUB Enterprises? Speaking of the world record setting streamliner, that was cool to see. While I was busy poking around the neat little carbon fiber toy I was approached by Jeff Boyle (electrical boy wonder, responsible for the 600 feet of wiring in said toy). He was an incredibly friendly guy - spent a solid 20 minutes chatting it up with me... answering all the questions I could muster with more data than I care to even try to remember. That's the kind of thing I go to shows for, not for something I'll see screaming down the front straight of my local track in 3 months. Despite my reservations, I still walked away from the convention center with two displays burning their respective ways into my wallet. One - Gerbings heated clothing. They brought all their motorcycle wares with them, all for sale.. and does anybody realize how good of a business practice this is when your products sell themselves? I ride all winter, anybody that's known me for longer than 10 minutes knows this, and I almost bought a Cascade Extreme jacket on the spot. I probably still will. It was incredibly warm without being plugged in, was armored very well, lined with Gore Tex (so you know the elements stay out), solidly constructed... I could go on for hours, but if I'm considering the price of entry ($425) you should know it's a good product. A complete all-seasons garment. The other thing was the Aprilia SXV... you know, that incredibly fast supermoto they've been promising us for just that side of a year. My biggest concerns with the bike were almost completely eliminated. I was worried that the service intervals would be too extreme, but according to the rep I talked to if they're run on the street just like normal bikes then their services are almost identical. The reference I got was that at 17,000 miles on their test mule nothing seemed more out of the ordinary than a typical street bike. The other thing I was worried about was top speed. I rode with a guy on a DRZ once... he topped out at 82 with the wind at his back, I don't want that. Rest assured, though, the SXV goes like a bat out of hell right to it's mid 130 some odd mph brick wall. I've heard rumors of 0/0 financing and other incentives... it'll be tough to not buy one of these before I can afford it. All in all, if I can go to a show and seriously want to spend less than 10 bills, well, that's a freaking success. - .paul - 01-15-2007 All in all, you are still a redheaded whore
