- ScottyB - 09-30-2005 CaptainHenreh Wrote:What's the problem with it, you ask? Well, as many of you may know, DSM's use a Mass Air Flow Sensor to measure air input for fuel delivery. Stock, they use a boost recirculation valve to re-input already measured air back into the intake tract (post MAFS) to prevent 'water hammer' damage to the turbocharger. Well, this guy had some blingy R2-D2 blow off valve which vented to the atmosphere. wow, sounds like every other post ever made on vwvortex in the 1.8T section... "can i use a BOV?" "no" "can i use a hybrid BO/Recirc valve" "no" "is a BOV ok for my engine" "no" "i really want to sound cool will i ever sound cool" "no" sigh... - JustinG - 09-30-2005 that is hilarious.......so basically all you gotta do is recirculate the BOV and the car will run fine??? - Kaan - 09-30-2005 if that were the case i would have expected rex to bring some hand tools and stop by home depot on the way home and at least get it to run right on the way home lol. - Jeff - 09-30-2005 This BOV is a vent from 5 holes around the top. Hes gonna need to find and OEM BOV and pipe to really fix it. The only way to have "fixed" it on the road whould have been to remove the top line so it woudn't open...but that may have damaged the turbo. - JustinG - 09-30-2005 well you could always by a recirc kit for the BOV you have on the car, or make your own - bimmerboodle - 09-30-2005 CaptainHenreh Wrote:You got that for a grand??? - Jewels - 09-30-2005 So I forsee this being the story of my life from now on. I go away for a night and he goes and buys a car. At least its got boost. I just wish he could have sprung something like this on me AFTER our wedding, not the week before. - WRXtranceformed - 09-30-2005 Jewels Wrote:So I forsee this being the story of my life from now on. Two weeks before our wedding, Chan announces that he wants to get an e30 shell and engine to "build" (I put this in quotes because I question the integrity of zip ties) a car to drive and sell his e36 (of course we didn't need the e36 payments). I recommend lots of tylenol  Oh, and MM wives r0ck!
- .RJ - 09-30-2005 Hey, e30's are better than hookers. - ScottyB - 10-01-2005 Jewels Wrote:So I forsee this being the story of my life from now on. I go away for a night and he goes and buys a car.
