RE: What's broke? - BLINGMW - 01-06-2020

Lots of downtime and 2nd shop has given up on fixing it as well.
Last thought, which I wish I'd found sooner, is there some reason this wouldn't work? Drill through the face of the pulley and crank and put a pin in it like they apparently do on LS engines?

Over/Under on just putting a junkyard motor in it and paying someone $300 to do it for you at this point?

who would swap an engine for $300?

Well, if you want something done [wrong], you have you do it yourself

Well, my dad and I are dremeling a new keyway, got a new bolt and balancer, need to clean up the crank nose a bit more, and we're going to put it back together. Should work.  Angel

JB weld that key in while you're at it.

ha JK, it's scrap. After grinding a pretty convincing notch then ignoring it for two weeks, I got out there today to take the oil pump off so we could clean up the crank nose a little and get it all back together!

So what I did not know because I haven't driven it, is that the oil pressure light was now on. I wonder if this broken oil pump gear and hole it punched in the timing case has anything to do with that? Yeah that'll be removing the head for that timing case, nope nope nope.

Selling for parts, anyone want it? Runs and drives! (for a short amount of time!)

Youch. Rough luck. I forget what this was, a 2.7? Just grab another for $300 and throw her in.

Probably not. If this was some truck we loved, maybe, but I don't see the logic in a used engine unless it was something I would like to do myself (it isn't). We'd end up spending a grand on it and then the transmission fails or some such thing. We're going to get a dump trailer instead for hauling junk around.
