Is it a good idea? Yes.
Will I destroy my transfer case over time? Yes but I won't hard launch it so hoping for lasting a good bit.
Will I leave traction control on? Yes.
Will I be smiling the entire time? Yes.
Will I record a launch with my GoPro for everyone? Yes.

4 auto leaves it in 2wd until it detects slippage, then engages the front wheels. I know some people that leave it in 4 auto all the time, kinda like an AWD on demand sorta thing.

This is the way GMC's 4 Auto works, however GMC specifically states you don't want to leave it in this mode 24/7..only when there's inclement weather or you are using the truck somewhere it will actually need 4wd. Just check up in your manual and see what Ford states about it

So it looks like:

Looks like it is fine to use every day but there is no definitive answer on damage or wear. Just people arguing and thinking it could wear or destroy the clutch faster that engages/disengages when slippage is detected. I didn't plan on running 4A all the time and won't unless I'm off road or doing a quick pull. If I know I'm doing something crazy I'll lock in 4Lo. Doubt I'll ever need 4Hi and don't want to need to use it lol.

Just leave it in 2wd? Why even bother with more wear when 100% of the time you'll never be using it.
It's not the hard launches that'll hurt your transfer case (within reason), it's when you are turning a corner and it engages on a dry road.
I use 4-Hi all the time in the winter, 4-LO is almost useless you are a rock-crawler/mudpitter. I think the only time I have legitimately used 4-LO is when Garrett ran off into a ditch at the bottom of Peter's driveway and I had to tow him out uphill in the snow. In order to manage traction since I run highway/tow tires, I just idled him out in 4-LO. Trying to use throttle just blew big plumes of snow/diesel

i would not recommend brake boosting off the line in 4Lo to see what happens. it was quite a shove but the t-case will make some....noises.

So, I decided on Black Friday I needed to start getting the truck prepped for towing as I plan on being back out on track in 2018. I purchased an Extang Solid Fold 2.0, which is a hard, tri-fold, bed cover. Didn't realize how expensive nice bed covers are...... But, that's why I purchased it on a discount. This was bought from Stage 3 Motorsports and was shipped the same day. Awesome!!
It "was" scheduled to be delivered on Monday. About that.... I got a nice notice from UPS on Monday that the package was damaged and was being returned to the sender. We shall see how that goes. I shall probably call Stage 3 Motorsports and see what they say. Hopefully, they insured it for the full value and I won't have the same issue for the 2nd one.
Other than that I have an appointment on Thursday for the bed to have the standard Line-x'd sprayed under rail.
Only other plans for the truck once that is all done is just basic tow things, nice straps, nice recovery strap, ratchets, nice hitch, and replace the tires whenever they are at the wear bar as they are getting lower. I have a bunch of bungee tie-downs now from the move as well as 3 large plastic bins so all set on that. Anything else I'd be missing for the truck for towing?

Nice, I think those are great for short bed trucks and the one I would have chosen.

Mine might be a little smaller since your truck is a little bigger, but yeah you can do it by yourself. It's crazy easy to install but it is definitely easier to have someone else help you with the other side when you're lining it up on the bed rails. One thing I did have to add was weatherstripping (they shipped it to me for free after I called) to the bed rail closest to the cabin on the back of the bed. I had some leaking back there because it didn't get a tight seal. After installing that, no problems

Nothing too exciting but finally got around to installing the bed cover yesterday due to the fact there is no light after work and it snowed Friday/Saturday.
Was able to get it 95% aligned straight by myself and said that's good enough for me. Thing weighs 60 pounds so all I could do is slightly shimmy the cover to make it straight. This took about 20 minutes of patience so it wasn't too bad. Truck did have weather stripping on the cab side and it is nice and sealed now. Install was stupid simple and took about 45 minutes total including the alignment.
Also the bed liner was sprayed in a week ago.
Anyway, I guess it's time to start focusing on the Miata.
