Yeah. It's a hot hatch and not a CUV so the majority of consumers don't buy them.

Yea, the headline is click bait but the actual article explains that.

Sounds like MM is gonna have a couple fists in its future lol

If you want a Ford ST, get the Fiesta over the Focus.

I hope you can realize the complete lack of an argument you made against "base model Fords" given your one experience with your dad's work Focus SE automatic. First of all, the PowerShift DCT is widely considered garbage (which his car had). Clear solution, don't buy that DCT. Second, a base Focus with a 5-speed is a very enjoyable car to drive. Try it. Third, a base Fiesta with the 1.0L EcoBoost and manual trans sounds like a cheap, efficient, blast of a car to drive. Again, worth trying.

It sounds like you hate VW at the level that I hate GM, so fair is fair - although they have really great deals on literally everything right now because of the diesel cars. My friend just got a fully-loaded Golf Wolfsburg for $21k OTD, and GTIs were another +$5k ish. Really not bad and they drive better than a lot of rivals.

The Veloster is an Accent in drag.

What about a Volkswagen CC? If I was gonna be getting a VW of the current lineup, my choice would be a CC.

You have a weird fetish for crappy VWs.

Love it or hate it, the GTI is a lot "more car" than anything else you're considering for the money, and it has nothing to do with how the door sounds when you close it, I don't even know where you get that from. I get the hesitation with the brand but since you're considering buying new, worst case is you drop the car off at the dealer, flick the keys at the service advisor and get into a loaner car.

I couldn't give a shit what you buy, but if you're about to drop $20k+ on a new car, I think you're doing yourself a disservice to avoid test driving them just because of the brand reputation. If the cars were as bad as you thought they were, you'd never see any of them on the road.

I'll echo the Mazda3 suggestion too, I haven't driven the newer ones but the older gens extracted the most smiles out of ~170hp compared to just about anything else I've ever driven.

MM, where a shitbox E36 is acceptabru but a brand new VW is shit.

I have 2 VW's and they're fine cars. Nothng can match the new GTI for fun & value if you want a new car. But you prob don't need a new car though just a used $10-12k commuter appliance.

Having owned the big brother of this, I approve

The CPO warranty is probably gonna run out on that within a few months though (7 years from original in service date puts that real close, it's probably a 2009 build), so negotiate in an extra Jaguar Vehicle Protection Plan and call it a day. Even without the supercharger it's still a stout engine and probably less long term maintenance.

Drove a BRZ yesterday. Amazing. That car is the right amount of everything. I don't care what anyone says.

If this commercial is the reason you think all VWs are dumb, I don't think anyone is going to make an argument that can break through such density.

Also - your thoughts on 0% financing... a lot of deals that include that "magic number" are for very specific models or trims or configurations. 0% versus 2% financing isn't really a big deal - you might be able to get the same or more money off the MSRP and bring your total cost to the same or less.
