Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Ken - 07-30-2015 - Definitely extremely hungover in that picture - I felt awful and that meeting did not help - I still vividly recall how pissed you were about that tape - it was so bad, I didn't even do my normal button pushing. You were not to be trifled with. - Damn, I miss that car - Also during that snow, the time I towed your M3 because you thought it'd be a good idea to take an M3 with all seasons on it out into the Charleston parking lot - I have that video somewhere. - Holy crap, I completely forget about that picture with Kristen and I. Amazing. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - rherold9 - 07-30-2015 Joey, what the hell did you record that auto-x video with? I camera taped to your roof? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jake - 07-30-2015 Aha, good pix Joey. Can we just go back for a weekend and pretend? Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - RawrImAMonster - 07-30-2015 Haha forgot about the flash rave. Soo many cops from every department around here showed up for that. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - rherold9 - 07-30-2015 Any alumni here when there was springfest? Yep. It was kind of funny watching everyone losing their shit from the tear gas walking up port hill. After the tear gas we just went back to ashby (or whatever it's called now) and watched shit go down from my friends balcony. There were tons of people walking around setting trash containers on fire. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015 Yes. Tear gas stings. We obviously didn't stop to take photos once shit went down. ![]()
Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - rherold9 - 07-30-2015 Yaas hahaha. If only JMU was more lax than it is now. I feel like y'all got to live it up in times when things weren't as monitored as they are now Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - RawrImAMonster - 07-30-2015 After Springfest is pretty much when things started taming down. JMU was a lot more strict about everything after that. Pretty sure JMU made national news for that. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Ken - 07-30-2015 rherold9 Wrote:Any alumni here when there was springfest? Yes - I stayed for a while until I had a gas canister land about 15 feet from me. Then I covered my face and hauled ass. The moment I'll never forget of that was when they threw a canister and some kid picked it up, threw it back and it landed perfectly between a group of officers who, for reasons unknown, were not wearing gas masks. They clearly were not expecting that and scattered. To this day I still stand it could have been avoided, every year up unto that point it was made very clear - do not step off of the sidewalk or you will get arrested. There were cops just waiting for you to do it. That year though they didn't care and people were everywhere - up until they DID care and all hell broke loose. EDIT - Joey's picture above proves my point, you can see people are everywhere in that parking lot Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015 We didn't get involved in the rioting or anything but we also didn't leave when we should've. They sent out a mass text telling us all to clear out, then a few minutes later we could see the ruckus starting up at the other end of the street. They started firing tear gas and one kid picked up a canister and lobbed it right back into the middle of the cops. We tried to maintain a safe distance until a canister landed 10ft in front of us, then I grabbed Lauren's hand and booked it. I think we went back to Charleston and had a party, as per usual. EDIT: Great minds think alike Ken. Jake Wrote:Aha, good pix Joey. Yes please. rherold9 Wrote:Joey, what the hell did you record that auto-x video with? I camera taped to your roof? They used to have these little cheap camcorders called "Flips" maybe that were like the pre-go-pro. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jake - 07-30-2015 Okay okay, I went through my Facebook and found some pix but they're mostly just junior and senior year. Might have more at home. Karting, taken with PotatoCam: ![]() First MM trip to VIR after our van rental privileges got reinstated. I think this was the trip where I learned a Dodge Caravan with 8 people in it will actually crack triple-digit speeds. ![]() Instructing at a Morgan Owner's Club autocross in Verona one summer. Ignore the smile, I was mildly terrified the whole time: ![]() DJ at VIR. He earned this tree and I'll let he (or someone else) tell you why. ![]() That time we tried swapping springs on David's IS300, ran out of time on day one, and had to leave it on stands with the wheels bolted back up so Pheasant Run wouldn't tow it: ![]() Chasing the other David out of Oak Tree turn at my first-ever Hyperdrive: ![]() Sneaking a sparkly pink MM sticker on Cobetto's shiny new racecar: ![]() I think this was the car show after-party my... junior year? I recall drinking on the deck and watching a police helicopter hover above the neighborhood, waiting for us to do some hoodrat shit. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015 Oh just remembered another story. That one time two girls allegedly made out on my bed in Charleston Townes, and Chris Chrzan took four hundred and seventeen photos of the event with my DSLR... in manual mode... in a dark room. I deleted like 500MB of black from the memory card. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - rherold9 - 07-30-2015 Ken Wrote:The moment I'll never forget of that was when they threw a canister and some kid picked it up, threw it back and it landed perfectly between a group of officers who, for reasons unknown, were not wearing gas masks. Unrelated to MM, but my Mom used to be able to throw parties in Dingledine when she went to JMU. I know some alumni are not that old. Just wondering when they changed that around? I bet that place still glows when you cut the lights out. Day drinking Bud Heavy at 9AM, cause the showker deck was full = hold back all the things, "Almost cracked my whip up!", slap the bag Man....I forgot about some of this stuff until I sat down and thought about it.....I will come up with more. We do need an MM reunion. Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015 I forgot about that karting weekend. Karting in general never really went well for us. We couldn't #Turnitdown long enough to be clear-headed and well hydrated for a morning indoor motorsport. Oh sure, we had the best of intentions. Jake and I even shook hands once as we pulled into Kristin Goodwin's parent's house where we were crashing that we would behave ourselves and maintain sobriety in the interest of an enjoyable morning. And then suddenly I was shithoused on moonshine standing in their garage listening to her dad walk me through the finer details of building a competitive endurance kart. I mean, we threw parties in Garber - wasn't exactly allowed - but with the right RA, anything was possible. We rolled kegs in through the back and then left them in shower. Good times. |
