no, of course not

Dave Wrote:if the wing is functional, im all for it. Otherwise, I see no reason for it.
By functional, I don't mean "provides downforce at 170 mph" b/c nothing is going to go that fast short of a prototype car. I like most stock wings, and anything that isn't really obtrusive to the driver's view. IMO, the STi and EVO wings are borderline for me in terms of riceyness, but they match the aggressive tone of the car.

Really?!!!!!! I thought the wing added power, by the force of air exerted from people laughing behind them. It's physics damnit.

BTW. A girl recently told me that she did over 200MPH in a Civic SI. I think it had a wing.

200mph?? I really hope it was some extremely modded drag car...

Chris Wrote:200mph?? I really hope it was some extremely modded drag car...

even then, she's not hitting 200mph in it.

yeah dawg, after he put the electric supercharger in he took it for a test run on thursday, and i heard the sonic boom when he pulled out of the parking lot. true story.

She was a blonde redneck. At my high school, a Civic SI held the status that belongs to a 911 GT2. The school was mostly country people, with only a few suburbanites like myself, so this stupid girl obviously made up that the SI hit 200MPH. But she wasn't smart enough to realize that it's not possible, I think she deserves a "Madison Motorsports Honorary Wing"

Agree?

Maybe a Madison Motorsports honorary Donkey Punch....

great for wingpong and amusement and downforce at highspeeds

as for appearance, i like to watch what kind of cars have them....it amuses me

i thought about it, and i do actually like wings that flow with the lines of the car. ryan (mspxavier) used to have a spoiler on his 96 sunfire. it was sort of like a supra spoiler, high, raked back, sorta rounded, with the stock spoiler deleted. it complemented the car so well, especially since the stock sunfire had a rear end that looked like a pregnant guppy.

Oh yeah!! One fast fish!!

speaking of "downforce at high speeds"...

anyone know what's wrong with this picture?

I was out at RA yesterday with the Bimmerworld guys, and we were kind of wondering just how much force those tiny little metal bands over the rear windshield could take. So don't feel too bad if you get a wing just for looks, you're not the only one!

- Mike - 09-22-2004

it it's on a race car it's gotta be furreal!

It's a Ford Focus right? (it looks kinda like the new BMW 1-series, but nah)
That's the problem! 4Banger?

- .RJ - 09-22-2004

Yep, 4cyl - probably puts down 230-240 whp

ya think?

- Evan - 09-22-2004

guess what guys, the aerodynamic function of a rear wing is not limited to downforce

please educate us.
