Full exhaust
Intake
Fuel pump
Meth / Water injection
A tune
Better tires and maybe some springs.

That's really all you need to have stupid fun with those cars.

Would you stay on the stock IC or upgrade to a FMIC?

Thanks.

I am still undecided on whether to wire it as a brake light or as an additional taillight (to remain on when the lights are on)

I don't know enough about the newer WRXs to comment. On the older ones, I probably would have left it alone honestly. The stock one really didn't suck and the meth would allow that system to run super safe and awesome.

Edit: I just saw that you asked about a FMIC. I would never upgrade to a FMIC unless you were going to push serious hp.. I had a beefy TurboXS TMIC when my old WRX was stage 4.

I had been looking at the Process West TMIC if i ever wanted to upgrade the IC. However, Im not really sure as to the benefit it might give me other than the standard improvments moving to a larger/thicker core. 1K is hard to justify in cost.

I vote for wire it as a taillight to remain on with the others. Something about that extra light just looks so good. Plus juan for staying with the top mount. FMIC are all for looks unless you are pushing serious power. It does look cool though.

I believe that is exactly what I am going to do. the only other thing i have been debating is whether or not to tint the housing so it doesnt stand out when it isnt on, but is clearly seen when the light is on. I would just use tinted Lamin-x so it is removable instead of using dark shades tinting spray.

I would stick with the TMIC if you ever decide to upgrade and keep the turbo stock or close to stock size (like a VF34 if kids still use those nowadays). My buddy had an FMIC on his stock turbo / tuned WRX and it just made it a little laggier. I had one for the GT35R on my old STi, but that's a different situation altogether.

Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-04-2013

i'd say so. the GT35R is a larger turbo. Wish i couldve seen that beast.

The current stock WRX turbos are VF52 and the current stock STi turbos are VF48.

Stopped by MachV today and picked up a Kartboy Pitch Stop Mount.

Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-07-2013

Well, I ended up being called in this weekend to fix an issue we were having with the servers and pulled a 27 hour shift.

I decided to take today off and sleep in. While I was home, I decided that I would install the new Kartboy Pitch Stop Mount. Install was fairly easy, except that one bolt was giving me trouble trying to take it off.

Below are the pictures of the install:

First I had to remove the by-pass valve (BPV) and the Top Mount Intercooler (TMIC)

The pitch stop mount is located right below the TMIC

Once the bolts are removed, you can easily pull out the stock pitch stop mount

Here a few photos of the stock pitch stop and the Kartboy pitch stop

Installation is the reverse of removing the original

After the Kartboy Pitch Stop Mount is in, just reinstall the TMIC and the BPV.

All and all, the install only took about 45 mins.

I havent taken the car out yet to test how it feels. But I will post some reviews after a bit of driving.

For a second I thought you were going with the donk look. Then I realized they weren't actually on haha. Dude if you tackled that pitch stop by yourself, you can definitely do the up pipe and exhaust!

Project: 2012 DGM WRX - FlaakCM - 01-07-2013

I probably can. Just lack of ramps/stands and muscle.

I have at least seven jack stands in my garage. Call me maybe.

Haha. Thanks! I will if I ever get the exhaust.

Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - Kaan - 01-10-2013

you can borrow an actual wrench and not use an adjustable if you want too Wink

Haha. It was a slight PITA as it is getting old and rusted. However, just haven't found a reason to pick up a set of wrenches yet

Re: Project: 2012 DGM WRX - Kaan - 01-10-2013

its thursday, thats a good enough reason for me to pick up a set of wrenches. Wink
