(Except for the rally ones. Fuck those) RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 08-16-2018 Look what I found at the dump today: RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Beej - 08-23-2018 Is there no Nintendo Switch discussion here? Disclaimer: the last system I owned was SNES. I’ve also wondered how you grown ass men, with kids, made time for video games. But after a few comments to her about how Zelda: A Link to the Past was dope, my wife came home with a Switch and Breath of the Wild one day. Turns out video games have come a long way. I may lack an imagination but I can’t think of a better video game. They may improve on the story and challenges but in terms of game mechanics I’m not sure what else they can add. I’ve never wanted to just randomly explore like I do in this game. It’s leagues above anything else I’ve played, on any system. The Switch itself is a seriously impressive piece of hardware too, horsepower be damned. I also just gave that SNES thing Rex just posted to my 11/8 year old nephews. They love it, so there’s hope in the world. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 08-23-2018 My kid got a Switch. He's too young to care so I've been messing with it. I like the hardware a lot, but the title selection is pretty weak. Zelda doesn't interest me, so I'm stuck with a few Mario titles. I just picked up Rocket League on sale. I like the XBox version, so I figure a mobile one for $8 couldn't hurt. I think Smash Party and a few other coming out later this year will help. I think it's like all things Nintendo - specialized hardware that doesn't have to compete with the big boys. I usually play video games after my wife goes to bed to read, but I'm in bed by 10:30. My days of sacrificing sleep for "one more game" are over. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Ryan T - 08-23-2018 My wife bought me one of those SNES’s a couple months ago and I love it! I’ve been wearing Donkey Kong out for weeks. Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 08-23-2018 Play mostly Mario Kart and Aces. Beat Odyssey, but not keeping it. Zelda is losing my interest, mostly cause I'm too impatient to finish it out. I need to try Doom. Overall I love the switch and it's versatility. Kid can play Mario Kart in the back seat, but I can take it on a plane and grind through a game. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 08-24-2018 I've got a Switch and a I love it. Played through Zelda twice, and now I'm dicking around in the DLC. Like Beej said, the exploration element is really, really satisfying. I'm still finding little nooks and crannies (and shrines) I didn't find in two full play-throughs. Played Mario Odyssey all the way through the Darker Side of the Moon level and had a blast. The funny thing is my 3 year old really, really enjoys watching Mario and Zelda to the point she's always asking me to play. I have Mario Kart 8 coming today, might have to order Mario Tennis before the 20% Amazon Prime discount goes away. I'm usually a "sell it back as soon as I beat it" guy, but I don't want to have to deal with physical copies and a toddler.
Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - JustinG - 08-24-2018 Getting $36 back for Odyssey today ![]() But I get where you are coming from. I wish I had bought Mario Kart digital cause I'm not selling it back. Got Aces digital cause I figure it's a keeper as well. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - CaptainHenreh - 08-27-2018 FUCK YES CDPR TAKE MY MONEY (NSFW: DIGITAL TITTIES) Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - rherold9 - 09-04-2018 WoW: BFA and now Destiny 2: Forsaken. Both of these companies have really stepped up their game, imo. Enjoying both games significantly more than I have before. Too many games out there to play too little time. Sleep vs gym vs track vs having friends vs video games vs tv shows vs etc.. It's an interesting balance Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Sijray21 - 09-05-2018 I've been thinking of going back to d2 for forsaken (looks like they improved a bunch). Plus bows? Those look amazing. Gambit also looks fun. I've been engulfed in No Man's Sky since the NEXT update, but that's wearing off. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 09-05-2018 Forsaken does look dope but Bungie fucked up so badly on D2 I'm not terribly motivated to pick it up Destiny again. I've got Forza 7 and Halo 5 in my backlog, then maybe I'll dive into BLOPS4 and Red Dead 2 this fall. Yeah, I dropped Destiny 2 for awhile once I hit 30 and there was no content after doing it so many times. I did 5+ prestige Leviathans on all 3 classes after doing regular multiple times I got bored. World Eaters raid was a disappointment and was boring after completing it a few times I got disinterested. I'm sad Red Dead 2 is coming out soon. Too many games I need to play/get caught up on that I doubt I'm playing that for awhile. At least it will give time to see if it's worth buying. Black Ops looks fricken awful when I've watched it on Twitch. Meh. Can't get back into COD. Looking forward to new Battlefield though. Looks super fluid. New Battlefield games > new COD games. Ever since BF4/3 it's been king. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 09-05-2018 In concept Battlefield has been better for quite a while. More strategic gameplay, vehicles, larger maps and player counts. In practice Battlefield is usually riddled with frustrating bugs so I had kinda given up on the franchise. I'd wait for reviews and a few weeks of full release before trying Battlefield again. I used to play that on PC with my best friend in elementary/middle school. That was a great game for its time. That was a great game for its time. it absolutely was, although i'm biased bc nostalgia and all. but "bullet time" was a game changer for that genre. i got really good at it and did the playthrough 3 or 4 times. RE: Video Games Thread - Gamertags in 1st post - Sijray21 - 09-06-2018 Scotty, remember the America's Army days? those were fun. "He's in the VENT" as we're yelling between rooms after dying to the hidden sniper... BTW - i jumped back into D2... (i'm a masochist who hates money). if anyone's on PS4 and wants to join the regrind let me know (Sijray21 is the PSN gamertag). plenty of campaign to grind through since i didn't buy any of the DLC before. |
