RE: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 03-11-2019 Gordon Murray, back at it again. He's developing a sub 1800 lbs 200+ horsepower sports car that will cost roughly $52k (in current exchange rate) or less. https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/a26698796/gordon-murray-design-t43-geneva-interview/ I've been looking forward to seeing the first sports car application of his iStream technology. I'm wondering if the new TVR or this T43 will be the first to hit the market. RE: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 03-11-2019 Is there any chance that car would meet US crash standards? RE: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 03-11-2019 He seems to think so: Quote:He's confident it'll have no problem meeting US Federal safety and emissions standards. Would be a shame if it could only get imported as a kit car or something. Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 03-11-2019 In case anyone cares there will be a 2jz powered A90 Supra by the end of the month. Of course it's a pro drift car. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/someones-already-working-on-a-2jz-powered-a90-toyota-supra/ RE: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 03-12-2019 (03-11-2019, 05:39 PM)JPolen01 Wrote: In case anyone cares there will be a 2jz powered A90 Supra by the end of the month. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Sijray21 - 03-12-2019 i lol'd RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 03-12-2019 Paging Scott to the photoshop desk RE: Automotive News Discussion - fiveoh2go - 03-23-2019 In other news, hell has started to cool down. Freezing temps expected soon. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a26882153/bmw-2-series-gran-coupe-confirmed-2020/
RE: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 03-23-2019 Oh BMW how I used to love you. I like how they've run themselves out of numbers and are calling this bastard child a 2 series. So now when someone says they have a 230, you have to ask for more information before deciding to say "oh ok cool" or slapping them in the face. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 03-24-2019 It sounds like it'll be a mashup of everything that sucks about cars now. Great, I think I'll eat a dog turd sandwich in celebration. They keep the high-test awfulness confined to foreign markets, thank god: In happier news, the M2K Motorsports Ford GT just ran 300.4 mph in a standing mile RE: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 03-25-2019 Goodspeed Wrote:In happier news, the M2K Motorsports Ford GT just ran 300.4 mph in a standing mile that's nucking futs. i mean seriously. 175mph in the quarter alone!! its so strange to see the camera panning after a "road car" on pavement going that fast across the landscape. i've always been under the assumption the GT40 actually had pretty poor aero (front end lift) so with the GT having the same basic silhouette, did it suffer some of the same consequences? i mean they've obviously figured something out to make it stable at 300 but nothing immediately jumped out at me just looking at the car. i know you're a GT nut, maybe you can shed some light on this. RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 03-25-2019 300mph in a mile is absolutely bonkers. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 03-25-2019 @ScottyB, MotoIQ (the reincarnation of Sport Compact Car basically) did a great writeup on this car back when it was only doing 280mph: https://motoiq.com/m2k-motorsports-280-mph-ford-gt/ Some stuff might've changed to get that last 20mph, but the short answer is the only real change to the car at the time of that article outside of safety & horsepower is Ohlins coilovers. They start writing a lot on pg. 3 about how good the bones are of the GT for this sort of thing so it may just be a case of adding megawatt horsepower and going for it. To give you an idea of the horsepower this car makes (pretty sure theoretical at this point since no dyno can likely measure it successfully), a single Precision 82mm of this car on a stroker 3.4L 2JZ will make 1400+whp. And this has two of them being fed by 5.4L. It must be above 3000whp at this point. RE: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 03-25-2019 thanks, super interesting stuff. its rare you get to peek this far into stuff that is truly megabuck skunkworks type of projects. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Sijray21 - 03-26-2019 jeeeeebus.... 300mph in a mile, wow also, fuck any car that calls themselves a coupe with more than 4 doors. bring back the days where coupe meant 2 doors. that bmw is a 4-door hatch. call it what it is, fucking hell... RE: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 03-27-2019 Well this is rather troubling. The EU is set to adopt speed limiting technology in all new cars. By using a GPS locator and cameras reading road signs the car would know what the speed limit is and limit the car based on the speed limit. It looks like it can be overridden by pressing the accelerator, but they also want to install black boxes in every car so when you do have an accident it can be determined what happened. I think all of would be absolutely against that. I would find it highly unlikely that would ever fly here in America. The fact that they believe speeding is what causes serious injuries and death is also troubling. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-47715415 RE: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 04-16-2019 You can now order a new "Syclone" direct from GMC dealers. $63k all in, oof. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/a27167888/gmc-canyon-syclone-specs-info-price/?src=socialflowFBRAT&fbclid=IwAR1FZRgkcynF-LsOs4dxZpE4zVx2E5yps2eZ7qixtXDKSEpIHcMQLKmUD3s&fbclid=IwAR25L-A18CgMs9eYsix2XhIVz8iUJQIjSFhdjsPb-UQGM19X9KJ9fKGoz-c
RE: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 04-16-2019 Cool, I guess. Just another vehicle that won't live up to the name it's bastardizing. RE: Automotive News Discussion - Apoc - 04-16-2019 For some reason this: ![]() made me think of this:
