Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - JPolen01 - 06-17-2014 Sweet baby jesus
Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - Goodspeed - 06-17-2014 Dat ass. Speaking of JZ-powered vehicles and great asses, I'm loving the recent evolution of this MKIV. It's been constantly evolving and is one of the best known cars in the community, and the owner (Stu Hagen) recently pioneered an awesome "stock twin upgrade" (STU, get it?) that places the guts of a Garrett T28 in each of the stock Hitachi CT12B housings. Coolest part of it is that he engineered it so that the stock sequential operation of the two turbos is retained, so the cars running the kit are absolute monsters. I believe he's up to 700whp/720wtq now. Also, the car participated in last year's IMSCC, a kind of ultimate street car challenge (autox, drag, etc) in the spirit of the old USCC from Sport Compact Car. It won, beating out both a R35 and R34 GT-R among other nice hardware. Interview/overview of the car On the dyno On the street ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - Goodspeed - 06-20-2014 So I was behind one of these the other day in traffic, a red one with a nice shiny aftermarket exhaust and I think it moved. What's the deal with these, sublime, terrible, somewhere in between?
Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - ScottyB - 06-22-2014 per all the reviews i've read, they are the less refined "tail happy brute" experience to the S2000's knife edge or the boxster's poise. the chassis is not as rigid as its contemporaries and the suspension is basically an evolved E30 setup....struts/trailing arms i've heard they suffer from the rear subframe cradle tearing the unibody floor (or something similar to that), but it seems to be more on coupes that see higher grip limits or race duty. you can also do this to them:
Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - *insertusernamehere* - 06-23-2014 Nothing supercool but I want it. Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - WRXtranceformed - 07-02-2014 Absurd!! How hard is it going to be getting traction in that thing though? Sounds crazy! http://www.caranddriver.com/features/20 ... lcat-video Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - ScottyB - 07-02-2014 Goodspeed Wrote: oh wow. so that's what the perfect alfa restomod looks like. Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - SlimKlim - 07-02-2014 JPolen01 Wrote: Man, interiors on American cars have come a long way lately. I love the pattern on the seats and how the dash seems to be centered around the driver. I'd definitely drive that thing. In white. With a manual trans. Vanishing point style. The center console reminds me a lot of Lauren's car but I guess it's just the cupholders:

Any of you keyboar warriors able to shed some insight? Regardless that is a seriously baller way to transport a seriously awesome car. Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - JPolen01 - 07-07-2014 Speedhunters says its a 300SL Gullwing. The coolest part is the motor/running gear of the transporter is also from a 300SL so that sumbitch is pretty fast. Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - WRXtranceformed - 07-07-2014 When I first saw it I assumed it was a 300SL, I have just never seen one with those kinds of modifications. Very very cool! Re: Cars that get you all hot and bothered - fiveoh2go - 07-07-2014 Loved the Saleen/Allen "RRR" Speedlab team cars as a kid. Looks like PAS has Tim's old ride now.

I have a bit of a thing for the 300SL and Ive never seen one with that front end, and certainly not with those pipes so Im going to venture a guess that its some kind of modification. the proportions look a bit off to my eyes too, so I wouldnt be surprised if it was some kind of rebodied other vehicle.
