RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Ken - 12-20-2017 The new Bowers and Wilkins PX. Love my P5 wireless too, but they are not "noise cancelling," they do, but passively. Bowers & Wilkins PX The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JustinG - 12-20-2017 I don't travel as much as you so didn't want to spend the coin on the Bose, but I have the previous gen of these Sony's, and they have done well enough. https://m.costco.com/Sony-MDR100ABN-Bluetooth-Noise-Canceling-Headphones.product.100381422.html Pretty sure Bose is the answer for NC headphones though. Side note, I buy way too much shit from Costco. RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - WRXtranceformed - 12-20-2017 Good recommendations dudes, I didn't even know about the B&Ws but the B&W system in my Jag was choice. My one complaint in the past with noise cancelling was that I could hear that "negative" noise as a higher pitched frequency and it gave me a headache. I figured the tech has come a long way but I need to try the new Bose first....that seemed to be the big plus of the B&W is that the noise cancelling isn't quite as good but is much less intrusive. I'll have to see if I can find those Sonys to try like at Best Buy or something RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Apoc - 12-20-2017 I have QC15's that I use whenever I fly - there's nothing better. That said, my ear cups are starting to fall apart after like 8 years so I asked for an upgrade as a Christmas present. I obviously haven't been able to test them yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll have a new set of QC35's in a few days. I didn't really have a need for wireless, but I figured as long as I'm upgrading... http://amzn.to/2CMa6wk RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Ken - 12-20-2017 (12-20-2017, 01:37 PM)WRXtranceformed Wrote: Good recommendations dudes, I didn't even know about the B&Ws but the B&W system in my Jag was choice. Try the Sony, Bose and those and you'll be solid with any of them. RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Beej - 12-20-2017 Weird, I just spent more money on headphones than I ever expected to. Picked up a set of Sony WH-1000XM2's last night. After going back and forth a million times between the QC35's and these in-store, I liked these better. Couldn't really tell a difference between the noise cancellation (the Sony's seem to have a REALLY faint white noise with it on, which I actually sorta liked). Went with the Sony's because they had two features I liked better: 1) a dedicated button to switch between noise cancellation on/off/ambient (couldn't find that on the Bose), and 2) a feature where you can just hold your hand over the right ear and the music will turn down and noise cancellation to ambient if you need to briefly speak with someone. Also, the touch controls were nice. There were a bunch of other features I didn't think I'd ever use (and my wife definitely won't). I know Bose is usually the go-to, but at least check out some of the comparos with the Sony's. The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JustinG - 12-20-2017 FYI. Those Costco Sony's, research the actual Sony model # so you can try and find em at BB or somewhere. Costco always does an extra digit or letter so they can't be price matched. That's basically the exact ones I would be looking at. I have come to realize with as much as I travel that size, lightness and comfort are all super important for headphones to me. I've been through enough of them now ha. The Sonys get a really positive review from CNET and others but they are heavier and definitely look a lot bigger. Granted it's a different type of headphone but the PS Platinum headset by Sony that I game with is incredible in terms of sound quality, features and comfort...but they are HUGE and heavy. Like, I would never wear them out of my man cave or use them for any other reason other than to game. Those 1000XM2s kind of give me the same vibe. That new Google Assistant button on the QC35 IIs is dope too! (12-20-2017, 01:52 PM)Beej Wrote: Weird, I just spent more money on headphones than I ever expected to. Good call, I would love to do a side by side. Where were you able to try them both on? Best Buy? RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Apoc - 12-20-2017 I have four different pair of headphones; all used for different purposes. Sony MDR-V6 at work - the sound quality is FANTASTIC, but they're not noise cancelling and the coiled wire would be annoying on planes. Turtle Beach Ear Force XO SEVEN Pro for gaming - obviously special use for gaming, but they can also be used for phone calls; I like the features but headband is uncomfortable if you're bald Bose Quiet Comfort - used exclusively for flying/travel; good quality, great noise cancelling, and I love they fold up in their own hard-sided case to prevent damage Some Generic ear buds with a behind the head band for exercise and bus commutes - light and easy to carry without sacrificing too much quality

I might have to swing by tonight and peep them RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - WRXtranceformed - 12-21-2017 LOL https://www.standard.co.uk/tech/apple-admits-it-slows-down-older-iphones-a3724766.html Man why do people still buy these? Because they JUST WORK HUR DURR
The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Senor_Taylor - 12-21-2017 Anyone have cheap sound bar suggestions? I have a JBL Charge 3 so portable blue tooth, but my tv/movie/game audio is lacking. How are sound bars hooked up nowadays? Optical? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Ken - 12-21-2017 (12-21-2017, 10:16 AM)WRXtranceformed Wrote: LOL To be fair, I would not be shocked if Samsung and other manufacturers do the same. I just find it interesting that most of the articles just point to the fact that it's because the battery is degrading and that the new software would cause the phone to shut down otherwise. So, uh, maybe account for that when writing the software that doesn't result in just slowing the CPU? Maybe don't bring ever power/CPU sucking feature to the older phones? But then i guess the whole, "LOL Android is so fragmented," argument goes down the shitter. RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - RawrImAMonster - 12-21-2017 (12-21-2017, 10:16 AM)WRXtranceformed Wrote: LOL As you said, they tend to have a lot less problems than android phones. I'm constantly fighting battery drain issues with my 1 year old Pixel on stock android with barely any apps installed. Pretty much have to keep my phone on battery saver mode all the time now or it wont make it through the work day even. Combine that with the fact that I half the time don't get pages from work on time or at all and the fucking stock google calendar app ignores event alerts that I have set up about 80% of the time. I'm just getting tired of fighting with android's bullshit for the sake of extra customization options. None of this shit was ever a problem when I had an iphone. The worst problem I had with iOS was the messenger app GUI would get messed up and I would have to restart the phone once every 3 months or so. Almost definitely going back to an iphone after this phone. Usually I replace my phone every two years, but I don't even know if the battery is going to make it that long in this one. RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - Senor_Taylor - 12-21-2017 If phone manufacturers would let us change the batteries, none of that would be necessary. My wife's long discontinued Note 5 is still running as good as it did the day we bought it. So is my S7 even on some old ass firmware that won't get updated since it's not connected to Verizon and my S8 has been an absolute power house. My battery life is even better after the last S8 update and I am using it constantly since it's my work phone. I got on my mom's iPhone 6 the other day and it was absolute trash, it would barely run even a low-drain Bank of America app!! I honestly don't know how she is using that for anything functional RE: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - RawrImAMonster - 12-21-2017 How is the GOOGLE Pixel a bootleg android phone? You know google made android right? You know the whole operating system your Samsung phone runs off of. From everything I read online, stock android is the only way to go it still sucks compared to iOS. Yeah Google is also a internet search and software company, not so much on the strengths with the hardware. Operating system is only one piece of making a successful cell phone. Samsung has been doing it for a long time. Apple is even buying most of their hardware directly from Samsung! ![]() https://www.macrumors.com/2017/10/02/samsung-4-billion-making-iphone-x-parts/ The best way to go is a rooted Android, but that's neither here nor there. For real though. "To improve battery life"? How many times do you think that idea went around the marketing meeting before they were like "welp, that's the best we got" The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thread! - JustinG - 12-21-2017 No issues with Pixel XL....call Google about your battery issues. Samsung and their bloatware is horrid iPhones suck Taylor, get a Vizio Soundbar or if you want stupid cheap a 2.1 Amazon Basics Sound bar. |
