Official MM Firearms Thread - Sully - 07-24-2020 Pretty low to be honest at least for the foreseeable future. I mean I'm not opposed to building one over time but I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough and it would be nice to have something to shoot as I go. Sub $1000 for sure. Im also not even sure how often I'll get to go shoot it so the top of the line isn't necessary either. Just something that gets the job done. Like the Honda Civic of ar's maybe? Sounds like you're saying the m&p wouldn't be your choice though. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk And sorry I only forum from my phone and it's hard to go back through anything on the app Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-27-2020 (07-24-2020, 08:23 PM)Sully Wrote: Pretty low to be honest at least for the foreseeable future. A gun isn't a totem that keeps evil away, it's a tool that requires skill and practice. Not shitting on you in particular, a lot of people have this attitude, but in my mind responsible gun ownership includes at least some budgeting for proficiency, no matter what you're doing with it. Sorry I know this isn't really helpful. Everything gun related is insane. Everything is out of stock. 1000$ will buy you a pile of shit today. I have friends flipping meme guns for 200% what they paid a mere 6 months ago. There's no ammo to be had. I can't even recommend you something "reliably good", because everyone is out of stock of everything for the forseeable future. I don't really recommend building your own rifle as your first AR in the best of times, but in times like these where you don't know if you're getting reliable firstline parts or wish.com knockoff bullshit from tacticoolar15secondamendantmaga4loko.com because they're the only ones that had a charging handle in stock. If you are thinking about a gun right now, my recommendation is twofold: 1: If you think you're in danger, buy a Glock 17 or 19 at whatever price you can get one, and enough quality self defense ammo to fill however many magazines it comes with. 2: Save your money until after all this has blown over. The "industry" absolutely will not catch up to "normal" levels of stock before 2021. It's just not going to happen. This is 2013 but worse for buying stuff. After the election you'll have more data about whether the massive buy-up is going to continue or subside, and if you put 50 bucks a paycheck into a coffee can by the time you can actually buy something you'll be able to buy something decent. I believe it's the civic duty of every American to exercise their rights, this being no exception, so I feel a little bad discouraging people from exercising their right to keep and bear arms. But right now...everything is upside down, and you'll only be wasting money one way or another. Official MM Firearms Thread - Sully - 07-27-2020 I don't need something this second. I just got a m&p compact for defense. The ar was more for fun and I didn't mean I'd go cheap because it was going to sit in a safe. I'd only get an ar if I planned to shoot it at least moderately. My thought there though was it seems like a relatively recommended lower price ar made by a reputable name in arms. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 07-28-2020 The cheapest way into a "good" AR "right now" that i can find.... buy a lower, lower parts kit, buffer assembly, and butt stock... troll and wait for a complete upper sale. We have a local hardware store that has a bunch of uppers and lowers in stock... both technically cheaper than the complete rifles on the wall (doesn't make sense to me). They also have 8lb powders at 10x the price of the 1lb powders... so... prices seemed pretty good. This place has TONS of parts. I was surprised. RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - Deceus - 07-29-2020 Man I didn't realize things were this bad at all. You guy weren't kidding, just about everything is sold out everywhere. Am I crazy for thinking this seems to happen like every other year? RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 07-29-2020 Ugh. Looks like a Fox News chart with a 7k min. Official MM Firearms Thread - Sully - 07-29-2020 I can get a psa lower for $70...assuming I can find a dealer to transfer it. Everything else, I can just order, can't I. The lower has to be transferred through a dealer so I could get that out of the way and then do the rest at my leisure Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-30-2020
Official MM Firearms Thread - Sully - 07-30-2020 Not saying I'll even do it but sounded like you were against building from random questionable quality parts. If it's a super popular heavily favored brand, what's the issue? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - BLINGMW - 07-31-2020 So if prices are high right now, if I wanted to sell a few, do you guys recommend gunbroker? Or just taking them to a local shop? I would consider ditching a 22 rifle and an SKS. (I would of course offer them here as well) RE: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-31-2020 (07-31-2020, 10:57 AM)BLINGMW Wrote: So if prices are high right now, if I wanted to sell a few, do you guys recommend gunbroker? And since nothing is available right now to complete said build, why not just save your pennies and buy something nice out out of the box when this bullshit is over? |
