thoughts?

I think 65 would just be abnoxiously big. The 55 gives me 10 more inches of screen than what I currently have.

When viewing in store I thought the LGs had the best picture when comparing LG OLED and Samsung QLED.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-23-2017

That's the model I settled on, except in 65". I have a 55" now and, based on pictures, you definitely want 65". My wall isn't nearly as McMansion as yours and the 55" feels smallish. Given how long you keep your TV, go bigger now and don't think about it for another 10 years. The 2017 models are coming out in a month or two and it's not a marked upgrade, so I'd wait for a sale on the 2016. Imma wait until Black Friday, if I have to.

OLED65B6P - 65" from 2016
OLED65B7P - 65" from 2017

Pro Tip: There are several reputable online dealers that don't charge tax.

I am concerned the 65 will cover up all the shiplap.

A 65 will be as wide as my mantel....

That seems HUGE. My parents have a 65 at their place and I can see it from the end of their .25 mile driveway.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 04-23-2017

I agree a 65" is a little overkill for the living room. Do they make a 60"?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-23-2017

What's wrong with it being as wide as your mantle? It only seems large because your current TV is so dinky. When I get it, it'll be as wide as my credenza underneath it. Tape the dimensions on the wall and stare at it for a few days, if you're worried about it.

How far do you sit from your tv? That makes a pretty big difference.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 04-23-2017

so from center of screen to my eyeballs is 10ft. Which according to some calculators says i need a 75.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-23-2017

65 or bust

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 04-24-2017

No one ever got home and wished they bought the smaller TV

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 04-24-2017

Agreed, but is 65 really worth almost double the price, I don't really wanna pay $3500 for a TV.

Also just in my browsing 60s almost no longer exist, all of the good TVs make the jump from 55-65.

I'm all for online purchases but believe it or not I have bought my last several TVs as open box items from Best Buy. You have to pick and choose but a stupid good deal can be had, unless you're after that one specific TV and have to be patient on the deals market

That's what I ended up doing, got an open-box Panasonic Viera(?) for a really good deal compared to new. I think it's a 55" and given how little TV I watch, has been absolutely perfect. Pretty sure it's LED.

Nice! Likewise, the LGs in my living room and man cave I both got from BB as open box. The 65" in my man cave must have literally received, pulled out once and returned, it was perfect.

65 or bust.

Amazon warehouse deals - same thing, but with free delivery and not having to leave your house.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 04-24-2017

Our sales tax is 10%, so buying in store is pretty much never cheaper. I actually don't think I've ever seen a TV model in person before buying it.

This S8 is the tits, btw. Amazing what a fresh battery can do.

I've gotten several things from this. Wait until Prime Day and they usually even have more markdowns on warehouse deals and you can pick up like new for 20%+ off with a few scratches and that's it.

Yeah except can you see pics of the exact unit you are getting before you buy it?

Wow I thought ours was high at 8-8.5%, 10% is rape. Stinks a lot of online retailers (including your company in some cases) are starting to charge state sales tax.

I can't wait to get mine, company ordered it on Monday! I get a 25% corporate discount on Verizon accessories so I ordered an identical Incipio case to the one I have on my S7. Even though it's a company phone, I drop phones all the time so i figure it's a good investment per usual
