Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - SlimKlim - 05-20-2014 Evan Wrote:2 drivers. Titan, Focus, CX5 and Lotus. Zero speeding tickets or traffic violations in at least 7 years. I've thought about calling Hagerty for the BMW, thinking that they would consider the low annual mileage more than the other guys, but I feel like to get agreed value insurance on it might cost more than I care to spend, at least while I'm still under 25. I'd also lose the multiple car discount. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Kaan - 05-20-2014 full coverage on the motorcycles, the truck, and the integra for the YEAR is what you pay per month I love old busted shit. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - SlimKlim - 05-20-2014 You're also old as shit, which is is a pretty huge factor. :p I'm in the absolute worst insurance category. Young male with a sperts cer. I remember when I called to get it on my policy when I was buying it and the woman snickered when I told her the make and model. It's pretty irritating a 20 year old 240hp BMW still throws up a dozen red flags in their little system when a significant number of modern SUVs and family sedans can beat it's ass to 60mph. I've seriously lost stop light races against V6 TLs. I just did an online quote for Hagerty, $15k agreed value coverage would cost 30% less than actual cash value from esurance. I'm going to switch it over but I think you can only pay yearly, so I need to recover from all these moving expenses before I do it. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Jake - 05-20-2014 Ooh, I forgot I turn 25 this September! Helloooo insurance drop! Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Kaan - 05-20-2014 I didn't see my rates go down until I was 30
Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - RawrImAMonster - 05-20-2014 I think I'm paying about 117 a month for the 135i, so a little less than I was paying for the trans am + m3. I have a perfectly clean driving record so I feel like it should be a little lower, but I guess it is a newish sports car with a decent amount of power. And for everyone looking forward to the 25th bday insurance drop. My aunt who is an insurance agent says that isn't really a thing for most insurance companies. You may see a small drop but it won't be much. I didn't notice any difference when I renewed my policy. According to her, getting married is when you'll see the big drop in insurance. Brb buying ring Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Jewels - 05-20-2014 Rex's insurance dropped at 22 when we got married. Our insurace is about 600-700 dollars ever six months depending on which car Rex owns at the time. I think we can do better, so I think we are going to shop a little. We've had State Farm for 9 years, and they've been good to us, but its time just to see how much better we can do. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Mike - 05-20-2014 We pay ~$950/yr for both of us on the Audi. I think my record is clean at this point and hers definitely is. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - WRXtranceformed - 05-20-2014 $220 / month with Geico for my car and my wife's. She has some blemish on her record and I still have an "at fault" accident on my record that wasn't really my fault for another year or so. It's the lowest we could find so far, I didn't ever expect my car to be cheap to insure Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Apoc - 05-20-2014 $900/year for the Mini and 911. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Steve85 - 05-20-2014 We were at a high of about 380/mo with 5 cars and 4 drivers including 21 and 24 year olds (girls, so it could've been worse) The most expensive being the 21 year old assigned to the Integra. I was assigned to her shitpile since I drove so many miles and it was cheaper overall that way. With the 21 yr old and her car the fuck off the policy and the Integra gone we're at 180/mo for camry, edge, versa, and vette. I mentioned it before in here I think, but Hagerty's was cheap as shit with the vette until I got a ticket in a different car and they dropped me. I hear you Joey, I had to sell my first vette when it came time to get my own policy. GEICO wanted a ridiculous amount and all the others just said no... The person I bought it from two years prior was selling because her insurance was about to go through the roof with a new driver in the house, her 16 year old son. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - davej - 05-22-2014 still with allstate for house and cars, current car bill just came and it's $680 for 6 months on the odyssey, fit and 02. (two drivers, both clean records) Policy is a 300-100-300 or something like that with a 250 deductible. stopped by to talk to the agent today since the fit was the most expensive, and wanted to look at Hagerty for the bimmer. btw, classic car insurance seems to be the way to go, current rate is 171/6monts, Hagerty will be $220/year, 0 deductible and a fixed value amount. (good to know about them being quick to drop though Steve) Agent also started telling me about their drivewise program, plug into the odbii and they monitor driving against 4 areas, speed >80, mileage, breaking and time of day. (more info here if interested http://the-analytical.blogspot.com/2013 ... re-in.html ) looks like the device has an IMEI to submit data, and draws power if the car is on or not. Apparently one guy got an email to check his connection when he had left it unplugged for a few days after it killed the battery in a car he didn't use much) outside of some tin-foil hat fears, i think i'll try it for a bit, an easy 10% off the total bill the first year for trying it. And if i can rig up a dock of some kind to keep it powered up in the garage, i might keep it around. anyone else try a tracking program like that yet? Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - JPolen01 - 05-22-2014 Track my driving habits? No fucking chance. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Jake - 05-22-2014 Yeah, I just set a new lap record from Baltimore to Reston last night. I don't need an ODB thingy telling the world about it. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - WRXtranceformed - 05-22-2014 My insurance is high enough, there is no way I would want them tracking my driving habits on a 500hp sedan  Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - *insertusernamehere* - 05-22-2014 HA! Yeah my parents couldn't afford my insurance for me if I were to be tracked. Shit, my parents couldn't afford it for themselves if they were to be tracked  I see the tracking program is for discounts... there isn't an unspoken line anywhere that says "if we feel you're too wild behind wheel you gon pay bitch" is there? Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - JPolen01 - 05-23-2014 When I called Allstate, they tried to sell me on that as part of their quote. They said it monitors your driving and can only help you get discounts. It won't be used to increase your rate but I don't believe that for one second. Oh you got in an accident? Why were you going 50 in a 35? Or why were you at 5500 rpm? Zing! Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-23-2014 #tinfoilhats. I use it and enjoy the extra 9-10% I get back this year. According to them I am A+ in braking A+ in speed A- in "time of day" (I commute 6:30-7 and 3:30-4). My mileage however is a C+. Re: Car insurance rates and metaphorical sodomy - Evan - 05-23-2014 Yeah its not a big deal. They measure how hard you brake and when you drive. I wouldn't put them in a fun car but I have them for my truck and wife's car. There is an instant discount just for having them plus additional discount depending on how you drive.
