- Apoc - 02-26-2007 For some reason your videos have sound but no picture. Guess my codecs suck but yours are the only videos I've ever had a problem with. Must be your 1337 Anystream video editing skillz. Here's the limited clips I have to offer. Smoking in the Uphill Esses (4.3mb) ---> Link Short-Cutting South Bend (3.7mb) ---> Link Mis-Shift for 2nd (3.4mb) ---> Link - Dave - 02-26-2007 what a weekend. The supra is a big difference from the 240, I'm thinking about taking the car back from Linds :-). In all honesty, I didn't enjoy driving the supra much. I care too much about it to push it, and it bites faster than the 240. It wasn't until Saturday afternoon that I got remotely comfortable with it and it was really starting to pick up some speed considering that I wasn't really pushing it. Had to start all over again with it being a wet track. In terms of spinning and near spins, I tankslapped coming out of oak tree on my first lap (missed the pace lap) on Saturday and spun at turn 2 of lap 2 in that same session. In the middle of my first session on Sunday I started tankslapping coming out of South Bend and after 3 corrections, put both feet in b/c I was headed off course. I actually ended up doing two 360s and staying dead center on track. An RX-8 went to the right and put 2 wheels off and an RX-7 went to my left, but both managed to totally miss me, for which I am eternally grateful. That was all I personally experienced, however I was in the group 2 session directly behind the M3 when it somehow just started spinning off from the long straight and crashed into a flagging station there. It was very creepy watching it happen, since it was the kind of place where no steering inputs would occur. I will say that I distinctly remember there being what seemed like a gust of wind coming across the track, and can only assume that he might have lifted, moving weight off of the rear and hit a patch of water, all three factors resulting in a high speed crash off of the straight. That was the end of my weekend, and proceeded to get totally drenched and frozen while packing up to go. I really don't see myself driving the Supra again on track for a while and I'll be focusing all of my efforts into clearing out my list of cars and getting the Z ready. I really missed the lightness of my 240, even though it didn't have as much power. I loved the braking capacity of the supra, as well as the fantastic thrust that the engine provided at WOT; man, what a feeling. - Maengelito - 02-26-2007 Dave Wrote:That was all I personally experienced, however I was in the group 2 session directly behind the M3 when it somehow just started spinning off from the long straight and crashed into a flagging station there. Oh well. - Sijray21 - 02-26-2007 VIR full is an incredible track! This was my first weekend to drive on VIR and i was thankful that it was VIR Full. My previous 4 weekends were at Summit Point Main and i'm looking to expand my track experiences. My main goal for the first day was to try and pick up the line, find the braking points, and proper turn in and track out. The one thing i definitely learned about VIR is that the sections between the straights flow together as sections. If you miss one turn you tend to miss most if not all of the section, so consistency is very key. On Sunday the threat of rain lurked and so did my nervousness as thoughts of sliding through the wet grass and into a guardrail kept going through my mind. Driving in the rain with Azenis RT-215's and not having ABS wasn't really my ideal situation, but the situation actually surprised me. The pace of the sessions were a lot slower and my years with the car helped to provide a predicable behavior in the wet. I actually like driving in the wet. The first session kinda had me on edge as someone from the previous session dropped an oil line right on the qualifying line, but adjusting to that was a good learning experience. The second session was a little different as the rain was falling a lot harder. The rain started to accumulate in puddles throughout the course and i couldn't go above 90mph on the straights without hydroplaning. I still don't have the course down, but i have a much better feel for it. Turn 14-17 need a lot of work, but man i love the uphill S's. I think the highest speed i got up to was around 95-100mph going through the S's and man was that exciting. I really want to run this course again! EDIT: Seeing the M3 on its side infront of station 12 was a little humbling. My guess is with Maeng with the loss of traction to one wheel causing it to spin although Dave also mentioned a big gust of wind at the time too (which i could also see causing it at 70mph). I'm glad the driver and instructor weren't too hurt. I know it was happening to me on the front straight, but since i have a FWD car i don't think that it had much of an affect for spinning the car. Great experience in the wet though. - ViPER1313 - 02-26-2007 There is something wrong with the files - they don't work w/ WMP, Quicktime, etc. The only thing I can get to open them is VirtualDub Mod. - Mike - 02-26-2007 Apoc Wrote:Mike Wrote:Apoc Wrote:For some reason your videos have sound but no picture. Mike...that hatchy rear end goes around kinda fast, no? i was surprised to say the least, although it was always under braking i think - Mike - 02-27-2007 ScottyB Wrote:Mike...that hatchy rear end goes around kinda fast, no? i was surprised to say the least, although it was always under braking i think yes it dos, and no, neither time was under braking. - Mike - 02-27-2007 my videos are now in vc1 format. if you can't play em, blow me. - Apoc - 02-27-2007 Downloaded a codec here at work but I can see them now.
