They were stored from November to March. But I have a problem. When I get up to around 60 mph I get this whirring sound from the front end of the car(tires) that gets louder as I go faster. I felt around the edge of the tire and there are no bumps or indentations. Could the front wheels be out of balance? I do get the usually shake of the steering wheel as well at those speeds. I did not have this whirring sound with the other wheels. I stored them in my basement storage room. I rotated them as well. - CaptainHenreh - 03-18-2008 Did you store them upright or on their side? - Feersty - 03-18-2008 Upright. I am having the front wheels balanced on Thursday. - CaptainHenreh - 03-18-2008 Feersty Wrote:Upright. I am having the front wheels balanced on Thursday. It's possible you flatspotted them. - Feersty - 03-18-2008 I meant to say on the side. - CaptainHenreh - 03-18-2008 Feersty Wrote:I meant to say on the side. ... - Feersty - 03-20-2008 I rectified the issue. I have Falken Azenis as you may know. I guess I didn't realize but they are uni directional tires. The front right and the rear left tires were facing the wrong direction, so I switched them. I will determine during tomorrow's commute if that was the cause. Glad I figured that one out. - Mike - 03-20-2008 it shouldn't be. - Feersty - 03-22-2008 You're right. I kinda of still have the sound, it is muffled though. - Mike - 03-22-2008 maybe get some more mufflers. - ziich - 03-25-2008 lols - l33t Mr2 - 03-25-2008 if your steering wheel is shaking like wet dog in the rain its most likely a tire balance or a alignment problem. It happened to me 1 year ago... verry annoying - mrbaggio - 03-25-2008 you could just drive slower. - Feersty - 03-25-2008 mrbaggio Wrote:you could just drive slower. thank you Mr. Antinarella. - Sijray21 - 03-25-2008 are the wheels aftermarket? what kind of lugnut seats do you have for stock? the azenis are generally louder (mud-tire sounding) than normal tires so you should expect some noise. the azenis are asymmetrical, not unidirectional so putting the tires on either side of the car shouldn't be an issue. |
