Thanks guys for the ideas and offers of support!

Jeff Wrote:Goodspeed. I'm willing to help you out any way I can.

Jeff, I'll probably take you up on this offer at a time that is convenient for you. Personally, with exam week coming up and a move to a new apartment I don't have the free time to deal with it until after graduation weekend. I have a little over a week after that weekend and the start of summer classes so perhaps in that timeframe we and anyone that would like to help could knock it out...again I appreciate it.

Here in the next few days we'll be taking a look at it here in H'burg, but the definite plan is to fix it and sell it; its time for something newer and more reliable/DD'able.

Mentioned it to my friend, he's definitely interested. Appx. how much would you be looking for it?

This is all far-forward thinking and hypothetical, but I feel the car, running as it was is worth 4k.

Trade the DSM for the Supra as it sits?

- CaptainHenreh - 04-28-2009

Oh man, another MM Supra trade!

LOLZ

Might be a good plan really.

No thanks Adam  I'm leaning towards something late 90's/early 2000's this time around, just for the "niceness" of it.

- Ken - 04-28-2009

Well my friend is still interested, just wants some more details about it

You can direct him to my old FS ad:

http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8237

The reason I had it FS: I was getting rather tired of worrying about my car; I live in a relatively crappy area and cars get keyed and messed with. The mental anguish wasn't worth it, even though I love the car I went into a phase where I wanted a beater.

Reason I removed it from being FS: I secured a garage for next year, but then this happened and now my tastes have changed to different vehicles.

You can tell him the maintenance list has one more oil change on it and its currently at ~140,050 miles. It'll probably get a low-mile JDM motor, and I'll have a ton of extras to toss in the deal. All records since new, etc.

- Goodspeed - 04-28-2009

LOL.

It wasn't rod knock. Though in my defense, it sounded EXACTLY like it on the Skyline Drive.

A bunch of us looked at it tonight, and found #6 spark plug coated in oil and really messed up. It must've been defective or something but thankfully no broken bits fell inside. Also the VC gasket is bad and was leaking a lot (cause of oil in there), so new gasket/plugs/and wires will be going in soon. Yeah....didn't think I needed to change them that often (~8000 miles on them). New plug went in for the interim, started and ran fine. So, it looks like I'll be keeping the car, at least for the meantime.

Thanks to Jeff and Pete for coming to the rescue at the first whiff of danger, and DJ, Ryan, Blair and Paul for takin a look-see

Flame suit on.

LOL @ no rod knock

- ViPER1313 - 04-28-2009

In Goodspeed's defense, I thought the SHO had a sticking valve / bad fuel injector / ejected valve shim because it was knocking so loudly from a bad coil pack. DJ was there when it happened - it was really loud. Glad your car is OK
