- WRXtranceformed - 07-28-2008 R34 looks WAYYYY better than the R35. - WRXtranceformed - 08-18-2008 Who the hell wants to buy a performance car with a black box in it from a company that voids your warranty if you turn traction control off? Or race it legally? A page from the GTR's warranty book.
- D_Eclipse9916 - 08-19-2008 Welcome to Ferrari years ago. I thought that was only an issue in Japan for the skyline. I Thought it was fine here in the US. PS I saw a skyline today...omg fucking ugly as sin even in white. I would not pay 80-110,000 for a sleek aztec. - Mike - 08-19-2008 WRXtranceformed Wrote:A page from the GTR's warranty book. must be logged in. - WRXtranceformed - 08-19-2008 Oops that pic is an attachment. Let me try this. ![]() It apparently is also for the US cars, but yeah there are black box / warranty voiding issues even on other "lesser" exotic cars. Check out this thread, here's a post I pulled from it: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.mygtr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=245&page=3">http://www.mygtr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=245&page=3</a><!-- m --> Quote:I guess I will chime in about my Lotus Elise experience. - Kaan - 08-19-2008 The new Audi TT has a black box in it. My brother was fired as a tech from HBL because a trans bolt kept breaking.... even though the black box said the owner was doing repeated 6k rpm dumps in the car... before and after his 4th (!!!) trans bolt. I guess audi just doesnt care! - mrbaggio - 08-19-2008 Shouldn't doing dumb things like clutch dumps/failure to use proper fuel void your warranty? - ScottyB - 08-19-2008 ironically i saw my first R35 skyline in the flesh today. one car behind me at a light coming home from work -- its BIG, which is how i picked it out so easily in traffic behind me. silver looked good on it, has a tint of blue to it. the tires are pretty damn wide. the ass end is ginormous. sounded like a muted locomotive when it passed me to make a left. everyone couldn't take their eyes off of it. - WRXtranceformed - 08-20-2008 mrbaggio Wrote:Shouldn't doing dumb things like clutch dumps/failure to use proper fuel void your warranty? I don't think it's the abuse of the car voiding the warranty that is surprising people, it's the fact that turning off traction control can do it. - .RJ - 08-22-2008
- WRXtranceformed - 08-22-2008 ^ hahaha - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-22-2008 At first I thought that was goodspeed in the picture. - Goodspeed - 08-22-2008 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:At first I thought that was goodspeed in the picture. Well fuck you very much, Mr. Fitzpatrick Besides, the GT-R is still no Supra - REED - 08-22-2008 ha thats awesome. For some reason I found the shadow moving in the restaurant window to make me lol - Kaan - 09-30-2008 Someone is upset! <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://carsguide.news.com.au/site/motoring-news/story/porsche_accuses_nissan_of_cheating_at_nurburgring/">http://carsguide.news.com.au/site/motor ... rburgring/</a><!-- m --> - WRXtranceformed - 10-13-2008 Well, Nissan refuses to warranty its first transmission. It sounds like the owner might have been abusing it a little.. but who knows! Quote:A member of the North American GT-R Owner's Club forums started a thread recently in which he tells about dropping off his Nissan GT-R at the dealership when he began hearing loud noises coming from the rear of the car. The dealership told him that his transmission was toast as a direct result of him turning off the car's VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) too much, which you have to do in order to use the Launch Control function. The cost to repair the tranny is $20,000 and Nissan won't cover it under warranty since the GT-R owner's manual states that damage to the transmission is not covered if it is proven to be the result of using Launch Control with the VDC turned off. In fact, the manual states that the only reason you should turn off VDC is for when you're rocking the vehicle because it's stuck in mud or snow. That's kind of like Nissan saying you should never use the Launch Control function despite the fact it's there. God that thing is fat. - Mike - 10-14-2008 i can't fathom how big it must be after having seen an r34 firsthand and knowing how small it is in comparison. |
