Ugh, Cold on Saturday, Cold & Wet on Sunday != good for a broken collar bone, I was in agony most of the weekend, but it was worth it to see all my friends and NASA family. The enduro was a piece of cake since most of the people decided not to show up and race or consolidated pit stalls. I was able to police the entire thing and let most of my crew stay inside and stay warm (I was one of the few with rain gear). All in all a rather good weekend from a grid standpoint, which considering Jess and I were the only ones of the core group to be there and we're both cripples, was surprising.

Thanks again to Rex and Julie who got me home last night.

Oh and DAMN YOU MAENG for being the only instructor to come out for the end of the day session and ruin our lil break. :-)

Was that the one that was in GTS5? If so, he was turning 2:02's...

No, Hornish's car was in one of the HPDE Groups.

A Porsche of some type. GTS5 = 6.0 - 8.49 lbs/hp so it was cookin.

I have a tip for everyone. Don't use air tools to attach the hub to your new rotor. You will have an 80% chance of stripping the bolt and wasting 2 hours drilling them out. I should have taken a picture of the split rotor but alas we were too pissed/tired to do anything but pack up for the night. Oh, another one for you... Don't forget to leave yourself enough time to soften your suspension when it's 40┬░ and raining... chances are the car will handle a lot better that way. Yay for stupid mistakes!

- Mike - 02-26-2007

another tip for everyone: don't doing ANYTHING mechanical that is related to something a derecola says or owns.

- Apoc - 02-26-2007

It's a pretty sweet dichotomy really... my dad doesn't learn from experience and I don't have the experience to learn from. We're a dangerous combination. How's that drill replacement coming?

ha, i didnt think i'd be the only car and i told jenn i'd take her out on my last session of the day. it was fun having the ENTIRE track to myself even though it was crazy slippery. i even got the blue flag coming around hogpen for the first lap. i felt bad though so i only did two laps.

i dont know what class it was in, but he ran in the hpde group 4 on saturday. i'd believe it that he was running 2:02 cuz it was lapping me on multiple occasions on every session out there. watching that thing fly up the uphill esses was an amazing sight though

Here's another tip:
Try and avoid cars that require you to bolt your hub to your rotors.

You know you want impractical engineering that requires superfluous mechanical steps adding to the possibility of human error. You're in denial.

I chose to purchase a 250 dollar BMW. I'm just trying to save the little ones, that's all.

SWEEEEET! I wish I could have heard it! The car was a lot faster this weekend too! Saturday was just awesome!

umm yeah....you didn't think spinning was cool? I guess Dave just thought the first spin with me yelling "not while I'm in the car!" wasn't enough...he needed to spin with Rex to see if he'd squeal too!

Aww, Lindsey we didn't spin...or squeal.

The M3 in front of us spun, ended ass in the tirewall and rolled over. It wasn't so much a squeal as a "Oh fuck!", followed quickly by a "Where's the red flag?"

- Lindsey - 02-26-2007

yeah...i'm trying to pretend dave didn't see that, since he came running over to grid telling me not to go on track because that guy had no control over what happened. i can't even imagine being just car lengths behind and seeing that. but i thought you were with him coming off the esses...

- CaptainHenreh - 02-26-2007

No, we never went off. Our "big scare" was seeing the M3 wad itself up.

- PDenbigh - 02-26-2007

Dave did a 720 on southbend with me riding shotgun. I think I startled him with my "Hell yeah, there we go!" comments as we were spinning... sorry dude!

I believe it was his 996 GT3 Supercup car from '01 at Indy:

I started one of the Saturday afternoon HPDE4 sessions two cars back... and it blew by me on green lap #4. I was doing 2:40ish laps (in Packer's black & white S13) at the time, so 2:02's sound about right.

Actually, it was this guy:
