RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - SlimKlim - 03-07-2018 Awesome info thanks! Maybe we can meet up sometime to have a little coding party on all three of these MK7s. Yeah if I tune I'm going to do the APR Plus program and I've got the DSG, so no clutch concerns for me. RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - .RJ - 03-07-2018 GOD DAMMIT HURRY UP AND TUNE IT. Or sell it to me. Gimme that hot vag-com action. RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - SlimKlim - 03-07-2018 Go get your own and tune it! Otherwise, good things come to those who wait.
RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Sijray21 - 03-07-2018 I'm already skipping the tires without a tune. I think I'll wait until I get 4motion or Quattro before I tune... I turned off everything the computer would let me and gave it a 9/10 pull in first and second and it was like sitting on a jackhammer. RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - .RJ - 03-07-2018 Its.... just too easy. I think I'll wait until I get 4motion or Quattro before I tune... exactly. i need to try with my summer tires (Conti D/W), but i can't imagine how bad the traction would be with the added torque from a tune. I'd opt for the aftermarket motor/trans mounts to remove the wheel hop, although i won't be doing that in my car now with it being 8 years old and probably getting a replacement car in a year or two. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - SlimKlim - 03-07-2018 It'll be interesting to see how these MK7s with the differential handle the power with a good set of summer tires. FWD will always be FWD, but the LSD does a pretty incredible job at managing the power compared to my old MKV, which would literally sit 'n' spin if you stomped on it too hard from a stop. Pretty sure I shifted into 3rd before I had gotten 20ft off the line once leaving Wegmans in it after I got the Revo Stage I on it, and that only took it to stock MK7 power levels. RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - ScottyB - 03-07-2018 the MK7's use a hydraulic clutch pack diff, right? that should work awesome. all the goodness of a clutch diff plus torque vectoring capability. you can still probably light up both tires if you want to, no matter what, but good summer tires should keep it to first gear. RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - SlimKlim - 03-07-2018 I believe that's how it works. I know it can deliver 100% of power to either front wheel depending on where it needs the grip. I've only hucked this one around a corner in true anger once so far, and on a couple of test-driven cars, but it's pretty amazing how well it'll turn in. The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Senor_Taylor - 03-08-2018 Converted my recirculation valve to a blow off valve tonight and it's obnoxiusly awesome. Also developed a killer clutch squeak. One more thing to add to the list. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - ViPER1313 - 03-09-2018 Won’t that make it run super lean on shifts? RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - .RJ - 03-09-2018 Only if it uses a MAF. My old Audi 2.0t did not. Other way around, it would run rich since it's losing metered air IF it had a MAF. But these don't. The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - *insertusernamehere* - 03-09-2018 What do you mean by a clutch squeak? Sent from my FRD-L04 using Tapatalk RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Sijray21 - 03-09-2018 I've had a clutch noise in cold weather since about 2 years into my gti ownership. The throw out bearing is noisy in the cold. I believe it a common issue with mk6 gti, but I thought they resolved it with mk7s; I guess not. The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Senor_Taylor - 03-09-2018 Everyone is correct. These use a MAP so it won't make it run any different except there may be less pressure in the intake pre-turbo, but I looked at the piping and I don't see where the recirc was dumping into the intake. Worst case scenario, it builds boost a little slower. Matthew, my clutch pedal squeaks pretty badly on 90% of the times I push it in. Really annoying. Another thing for the list whenever I take it into them to complain. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk RE: The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - Sijray21 - 03-09-2018 Oh, that doesn't sound like a TOB then. Probably just needs some lube. Any squeaks are so annoying... The Itty Bitty NOVA VW Committee - *insertusernamehere* - 03-09-2018 Honestly every car I've had has had a noisy TOB in the cold. Sent from my FRD-L04 using Tapatalk Oh and the clutch noise may stop when it warms up. My cars also did that when cold. Sent from my FRD-L04 using Tapatalk |
