You've got my vote for a full safari build!

So I guess the fab pics aren't coming back. This is the downside of using this site's imgur and not your own, I guess.

Well, the shop managed to ship it to me despite me listing a different shipping address than billing AND me following up via email to remind them it was a different address. They couldn't even get that right, because it was the wrong house number and they had to take an extra day to correct the address. The lid was being sent direct from the fabricator, so I'm guessing that's where the problem occurred. It's not a big deal... I just wanted to shop to hold it until I could get the car to them in a few weeks. I'm not supposed to lift anything over 10 lbs for a month, so now it's a thing with the wife. The best part is I hadn't told her and she opened the front door to UPS with the comment, "did you order something quite large?" SURPRISE!

...and I just double-checked the address for the vinyl, which was sent separately. That's also wrong - they have the right house number of the shop but put the owner's last name as the street name. Idiots.

sounds like they need to up the quality of their interns or tell them not to ship stuff after a party weekend

The more I look at bumper replacements, the more these push bars from the safari look like decent options. All the RS and IROC fabs are too rasekah for me. My guess is these bars are custom... but they're all the same on these builds. Iunno. Get the ducktail on and see how it looks.

That car was built be Leh Keen and was one of his first Safari builds. I believe they are custom bars but I could be wrong. He is very active on Instagram so it can't hurt to reach out with a direct message to see if you can order a set.

RE: Project: 1976 911S - ScottyB - 04-24-2018

here's a shot of a bumper that's close. more stinger on top and wraparound protection across the whole bumper.

its a neat look but i still think it only "works" if it goes with a whole package approach i.e. has the appropriate flaps, wheels, higher sidewall tires, cibies, etc.

RE: Project: 1976 911S - Apoc - 04-24-2018

Looks like that one is a full bumper bar whereas the blue is more of a push bar. I'm kinda partial to the push bar look, but there's actually some practicality in having a wraparound on the rear. I'm mostly trying to decide if I want to bother with a fiberglass rear bumper or try to modify the impact bumpers to something that looks better. A front clip is a no-go, so I'd much rather keep the stock front and modify it. This look would do that... although who knows what fab on something like that would cost.

I love the idea of blasting the dirt roads of the PNW, but I can't say I have the money or the patience to do it right: http://www.stanceworks.com/2017/12/luftauto/

Mud flaps, taller tires, and lights are cool with me... I'm just not sure I want to start changing suspension. Springs? Maybe. Problem is it'd probably handle like shit. I wonder what taller rubber alone gets you...

RE: Project: 1976 911S - davej - 04-24-2018

The real question here is what color giant mud flaps go with that green?

RE: Project: 1976 911S - Apoc - 04-24-2018

I already ordered these.

RE: Project: 1976 911S - .RJ - 04-24-2018

No...

RE: Project: 1976 911S - JPolen01 - 04-25-2018

Black mudflaps only please

RE: Project: 1976 911S - ScottyB - 04-25-2018

it should handle fine on stock suspension with just taller rubber, you'll just have less snappy transitions and lower overall grip...which frankly could be fun around town.

RE: Project: 1976 911S - Apoc - 04-25-2018

Thoughts on powder coating the interior of the Fuchs black and leaving the dish silver? All the trim on the car is black or body color, so the wheels look out of place IMO. I'm not overly attached to the Fuchs, but I also don't want to spend $2k on new wheels. I'm really starting to like the idea of taller and wider rubber, so maybe I don't have a choice.

Note this will by Porsche tri-stripe vinyl on the doors and the windows will be tinted similar to the GTI.

RE: Project: 1976 911S - ScottyB - 04-25-2018

do it. the silver centers never looked right with that color and it'll complete the lower half of the car much more harmoniously if you're going to apply a black tri-stripe decal.

Project: 1976 911S - GTBrandon - 04-26-2018

Are you still doing the lettering down the side?

RE: Project: 1976 911S - Apoc - 04-26-2018

Yeah, that black plastic strip on there now is getting yanked and the vinyl put in its place.

Amusingly, TRE Motorsports actually uses a green air cooled in their product photo.

Is it going to say Carrera or Porsche?

RE: Project: 1976 911S - Apoc - 04-27-2018

Porsche. The last image posted is what it will look like... hopefully
