my buddy has a 2012 535 M sport but its an automatic. It looks good, but from what I could gather its a huge premium in price..probably not worth it. He couldve damn near just bought a 550

Yeah the 550i msports also carry a pretty hefty premium even used. They look cool though. Honestly you don't want a newer 5 series without the msport package because you're going to look like every other mom or mid level banking analyst who drives them. It is a seriously average looking car without it.

well i wasnt looking at a new one anyway. I have something else in mind for my 'good car' that im searching for. I just want to get a new daily driver that has less miles and is a slight bit more comfortable, and fun to drive.
Wasn't scared of an M3 exactly, but im not sold on a convertible anyway, so if they are a pain in the ass i'd rather find a hardtop.

Bashed out rear window and removed trunk. Cut out trunk and rear window sheet metal. Replaced floor with wood but did not relocate gas tank.
