  Race car for someone (CRX)
Posted by: Andy - 03-23-2005, 09:26 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (17)

The valley trader has a 90 CRX "drag car" listed. 6 point roll cage, no interior, no engine, 400 bucks. I don't know how a gutted car with stock suspension be a "drag" car and not a road course car, but if anyone that lives far away is interested, i can check it out for them.

  Saturn Motorsports Double Win
Posted by: KPWSerpiente - 03-23-2005, 05:48 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (12)

This news is still only interesting because when Jack hit up the Ultimate dyno Jason Hunt is the man who strapped his car in and ran it.

Quote:Saturn Motorsports Earns Double Win in Season Opener

Phoenix, AZ ÔÇô Two new drivers, a new crew chief and crew didnÔÇÖt slow Saturn Motorsports momentum from last season as the team blazed to victory this past weekend in Phoenix, with Jason Hunt winning in Pro Outlaw FWD and Brain Ballard in the Turbo 4 class.

The season opener of the Nopi XBOX Cup Racing Series also marked JasonÔÇÖs inaugural race at the wheel of a Pro FWD car. Jason drove Saturn MotorsportsÔÇÖ Valvoline/Matco Tools/Pilot Automotive ION into the #2 qualifying position with an 8.097 elapsed time at 184.98 mph. Race day Sunday; Jason clocked an 8.226 at 185.12 mph in a first round bye run. In the finals, Jason took it all the way to the winnerÔÇÖs circle with an 8.098 ET at 187.31 mph over Marty LadwigÔÇÖs 8.101 at 171.55 mph.

In Turbo 4, Saturn MotorsportsÔÇÖ Brian Ballard, the 2004 XBOX Cup Turbo 4 champion, virtually dominated the entire event, qualifying his Zeon/Cooper Tires entry on the pole with a 10.040 at 148.44 mph. On Sunday in round 1, Brian defeated Phillip Francisco with a 9.946 at 150.63 mph to FranciscoÔÇÖs slower 13.174 at 109.48 mph. Round 2, Brian logged a 10.131 at 145.11 mph over Mike Barreraz and in round 3, took the win light over Arturo Ortiz with a 9.878 elapsed time at 150.45 mph. Advancing to the finals, Brian again proved his mettle with a 9.765 winning time at 150.98 mph over Jeremy BretschneiderÔÇÖs 11.165 at 130.95 mph.

ÔÇ£We could not have scripted a better debut in our first race with a new team,ÔÇØ exclaimed Saturn Motorsports Director, Jim Epler. ÔÇ£In the finals, Jason had a huge hole shot, he really adjusted quickly to the Pro FWD car. Brain was flawless all weekend, actually both these guys were and itÔÇÖs great to be successful right out of the box. I also canÔÇÖt say enough about crew chief, Charlie Schafer. Although heÔÇÖs been with Saturn for the last two years, this was his first official race as crew chief and he tuned everything to perfection. Charlie, Jason and Brian have worked together for a number of years and their chemistry is a great asset; with crew guys, Mike Spraker and Dan Surge, they really got the job done for Saturn Motorsports and all our sponsors.ÔÇØ

Fresh off their first win with both drivers leading the Nopi points series, the team will take a two-week break before heading to the next event at Alabama Motorsports Park in Steele, Alabama, on April 9th and 10th.

Is buying a Civic worth the risk?
Posted by: Feersty - 03-23-2005, 01:46 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (40)

As you all know I want a EK hatchback, 99-2000. Anyways I am just wondering if it is worth the risk of it getting stolen. I interviewed at the Army Environmental Center in Aberdeen, Maryland over Spring Break and they tentatively offered me a GS-7 position. The interview went well, I just have to follow up with the guy to make sure.

I guess the situation is, I would either be living in Aberdeen if I got the job or would have to find a job in the DC area and live at home. This would ultimately mean that I park in the dreaded Fran/Spring Metro parking garage :? So let me know what y'all think. I don't want my car to get f*ckin stolen!

Reason for Civic is not I love the way it looks, and I would like to learn the mechanics of them so I can work on it myself. The people in the scene are cool as well.

Insurance on a M3 is $500 a month..

Got another one for ya :-)
Posted by: Dave - 03-23-2005, 02:58 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (8)

I know Rex won't like the idea, but I'm thinking about it anyways.
I currently have a set (4) of 16x8.5 300zx wheels and a set (4) of Mille Miglia 17x7.5
Unfortuneately, this is too big for the front, but I can probably sell 2 of them for ~175 and get a pair of 16x7.5 300zx wheels for $100 (profit $75)
OR
I can keep these, buy a set (4) of 16x7.5 300zx for $250 and essentially have a track and street setup with the same wheels. I imagine I can sell the current wheels and tires for $300 (profit $50)

Changing the wheels on the Mille Miglias is a royal PITA and the 300zx are bigger in the rear. However, I kinda like having a pimpish street setup and a setup for the track that is different.

Whatcha think?

tonight i picked up my car from home and had a run in with a local ricer/yokle from highschool working the drivethrough at hardees

him - don't do anything crazy when you leave
me - why
him - a drunk guy just ran his car up on the curb over there and ran away
me - wow, it's pretty messed up
[car is half on the curb with wheel tucked underneath]
him - yeah he probably blew a rod and messed up the drivetrain
me - i thought rods where in the engine
him - well i meant the axle rods
me - axle rods?
him - yeah the rods that hold the wheels together
me - Confusedhock:
him - your car is pretty loud
me - yeah i have some exhaust leaks
him - really makes that 4 sound mean
me - Confusedhock: sure does
