  Anyone want a SBC 305?
Posted by: HAULN-SS - 09-10-2005, 09:53 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (1)

305 V8, 100k miles. Been sitting about a year. Oil pan -> Intake. 100$, come pick it up near roanoke.

Nothing wrong with it when I took it out of my other car, just been sitting all year. I guess it's time to get rid of it.

  Interest in scenic drive tommorow?
Posted by: Nick325is - 09-10-2005, 12:03 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (24)

How does a scenic drive over 33 sound to everyone tommorow? A few of us had already talked about it and I am itching to try out 33 with the new suspension.
Early afternoon would be best.

Rear tranny mount problem.... big problem
Posted by: mpg9999 - 09-09-2005, 11:09 PM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (6)

Rewind to 5 months ago when I did my swap... I was missing one of the rear tranny mount bolts so I left it out. I have always meant to get around to it but it just hasnt happened. I've autocrossed with it like that with no issues.

Fast forward to last weekend. I'm in NC for a 24 hour autocross. On my second run I pull back in and notice my shifter is back really far. If I have it in what looks like nuetral, its actually in third. Back in nuetral looks like 4th gear, and 4th gear looks way way back. Just as a relevant side note the course was very bumpy. I figure it was a mount problem, so I look under the car and noticed the rear mount was sticking out away from the tranny. With no way to get hte right bolts, I made the decision to continue autocrossing with it like that (It was a 24 hour event, no way was I going to ruin that oppurtunity). After about 15 runs or so, it wont even go into second gear. Before that I just had problems with it poping out over bumps. I finally had to call it quits. I had to drive home the next day with only 1st, 3rd, and 5th gear.

Yesterday my new bolts arive from Nissan. I try to install them, but the threads are stripped. !@%%!!! So I got to work on dropping the tranny. I finish up this evening, and discover that not only are some of the threads striped, but the aluminum broke off around the uppermost bolt hole. Before I was just going to helicoil the threads, but now I dont know what to do. Swap cases? How hard is that? What about welding up the hole and redrilling and taping? Any advice would be appreciated.

A proposal for the next meeting?
Posted by: ultimagtrlover - 09-09-2005, 04:24 PM - Forum: Events - Replies (7)

I am assuming that the next meet is on the 21st, right? Nevertheless, I have some cool car videos downloaded onto my computer, and I am just wandering if anyone would like to see any of them. Most of them are "Top Gear" reviews of supercars. Let me know if we will have time to watch the vids.

I have a feeling my motor is about to go boom boom

I've searched, haven't found any straight answers.

99 Si JDM B16 block, mugen headgasket, CTR pistons, skunk2 valvetrain, stock cams, VAFC.

Problem started 2 nights ago after changing my oil then doing some VTEC runs. Revs started to bounce from 900-1800rpm.

Wiped my IACV down and that helped it a little. For the next day the revs went from 1100-1300 and would eventually idle smoothly at 1000, which is still too high.

Today I removed my throttle body, IACV, intake manifold and sprayed them down with carb cleaner. Put in some new NGK copper plugs. Now the revs are back to bouncing from 1300-2000 violently.

Attempted to check the CEL (it's been on since i bought the car, assuming it was from my gutted cat/missing O2 sensor), but no dice. The wires to the ECU are spliced all weird from the VAFC (prev owner).

This stuff may be unrelated... did a compression test: 150 270 180 300+ (off the gauge). I was using SeaFoam carb cleaner. I found one small tear in one of the coolant hoses connected to the throttle body, but I doubt there's a leak there. My compression tester might be busted... doesn't go back down to 0, stops at 30. Everything is fscking broken!

how messed up is my car? anyone out there know how to fix it?

New oddities that I discovered tonight:
-I can start the car without disengaging the clutch
-old spark plugs look like I'm leaning out
(this is what I get for buying a $5000 Si)

Me, Maeng, and OG Wing were talking bout checking out the new and improved Dream (Love) in DC. Cover is free if you take the free shuttle from downtown (I have to look exactly where it is though).

We'll probably roll in at 10:30-11. Any takers?

If any of you alumni (shit guess I am now too  ) are in the Arlington area this weekend, I'm coming up this afternoon and staying until Sunday. My roommate's apartment is near the Ballston Commons mall and we'll be going to bars around there I guess. I'm also swinging by GMU on Sunday afternoon to see my brother. Give me a call if you can meet up!
