Hey, I was just wondering what jackets you guys were using and what you thought of them/any other suggestions you have for me. Ive been looking arround for a few weeks now at gear that I want to buy, and I have everything picked out except a jacket. Im going to go to a few store or two in the next few days and try on everything ive decided on thus far, along with a lot of jackets, but I wouldnt mind suggestions of things to look out for. I've been working pretty hard on the XR lately. This winter/spring has seen a pretty dramatic change in the car. I enjoy looking at everyone else's projects so I thought I'd post a few of mine in no particular order. I'm too lazy to resize the pics, so enjoy them in their full res wonder.

First off, I 10 point cage (through the firewall):










Added some seats:

Installed a Kill Switch:


Did a bunch of other small projects that complement the above ones, but no specific pictures to share. The car needs a fire supression system and I need a racer suit and we'll be comp legal. Oh yeah, I have to get my comp license but that's going to have to wait until VIR next winter.

It's been a ton of fun to watch the transformation. The only thing I outsourced was the cage for obivious reasons. Built the passanger seat mount this weekend which really put the finishing touches on the big parts of the car. The only other thing I want to add are brake cooling ducts. I have the hardware, just need the time and energy to dive in...

Alright guys, knowing all you rainbow-loving miata owners out there, my friend is looking to get one. Probably cant afford anything more than a 98 and he wants soimething for autocross and daily driving. He would like to turbo it eventually so we were thinking he maybe needed the 1.8 liter with lower compression. However we have no idea on these motors. Any years that are impressively good for handling or suspension setup or good motors? Just let me know anything and everything about miatas, ill also be surfing some miata forums.
