I have sold my E36 so it's time to clear out the garage. OEM BMW E36 style 17 wheels w/ 205/60R15 (w/ less than 1000 miles of use) snow tires, extra coil pack, 2 Mann oil filters, and an air intake kit w/ heat shield, plus OEM front turn signals and tail lights.

$300 takes it all.

I've been going to Bryce since I was little kid and my parents live there full time now. We spend a lot of time there and this year they opened up the bike park. It's a lift access downhill park. I invited a friend to head down and check it out and we had an absolute blast. Neither one of us are very experienced riders (he rides Wakefield every once in a while) so we didn't go too hard and came home in one piece as planned.

I have this Fuel 100 that I picked up off ebay many years ago that I ride off and on. They require disc brakes and I think full suspension for you to ride your own bike. My friend has a similar level bike but we decided to rent for convenience and safety to rent. According to my dad "the rental bikes were $3500 each"...so nicer, newer bikes too!!



Trek Session 8.8's. Dual piston calipers and much larger discs than I have. Bryce has a deal with Shenandoah Bicycle Company which seems to essentially be a satellite office for them on premises where they can perform maintenance and repairs on personal bikes and maintain the rental fleet. Full gear is included with the rental but only helmets are mandatory. We went with full gear.





To get on the lift you stage on the downhill side of the lift at the bottom, when a bike carrier comes, you lift/roll the bike right onto it. Then just walk behind the carrier until you hit the person loading point and the chair a few seconds away. At the top there are two attendants that unload the bikes. Easy peasy...

This little bridge / drop is on the double black trail. At the bottom of the landing is a terribly skinny, severe off camber trail that turns back up the hill. The trail under the bridge is the 2.5mile winding green trail.




Another bridge / drop and again the green trail winds you through many of the features without putting you on them.


A small section of the upper portion of the double black. This run starts with a "rock garden", not big and didn't look real fun to us but definitely seemed to challenge many of the riders...and turn one around.

Quick overview of the trails...
Sundowner (Green) - not terribly challenging but can be fun at speed. It's 2.5 miles and winds through giving you a look at everything else the park has to offer. It was great for getting used to the bike. It has some really nice berms but is relatively wide to give some margin for error. A relatively new rider could quickly gain experience and confidence on this run while getting to see almost the entire park.

Brew-Thru - fun jump trail with lots of table tops and some fun switch back sections. You can roll all the jumps and the fun quotient goes up as you get faster. There is a heavily cambered bridge that scared the crap out me first time through, because it's not a hard turn...you just have to trust you won't slide off.

Screwdriver (Blue) - I guess this would be a "technical" trail with mostly switch backs, turn and burn. It starts off wider and then the channels and berms get tight. Again, intensity directly related to speed. There is a break in this trail and then you hit lower screwdriver - VERY tight and technical turns...we basically did it with one foot off the pedals in a half walking style. :oops:

Snake-Bite (Blue) - Basically a longer Lower Screwdriver, really tight turns. I don't feel like a soft full suspension full downhill bike would be right for this. I'd be more comfortable doing it on my little BMX bike...I dunno, just the feeling I got looking at it. I don't ride enough to know whether stiffening the suspension would have helped and I wasn't about to experiment.

Copperhead and Car Bomb are black diamond runs we did not venture on but seem to have some nice features and really technically challenging sections. This bridge I believe is on Car Bomb, and the trail below is shortly after the merge of Brew Thru and Sundowner to get you back to the lift.



I don't have anything to compare it to to say whether it's a good park or not, but it was sure as hell fun. 8)

Cost - 4 hr bike rental, full day pass (no half-day passes yet), and full gear was $80. Bring your own gear and the lift pass is $30 for a full day. I think we were doing about 9-10 minute round trips.

And a Video of us going down Screwdriver, my friend has the helmet cam chasing me. At the 2:23 mark Screwdriver ends and you're on the green Sundowner trail. There are ways to trail hop, I'd prefer Screwdriver to give you an easy option to finish on Brew Thru, but that stuff will come in time I'm sure, if not just from people making their own way.

So as some of you are probably aware my older brother took his life about 6 weeks ago. My mom and I flew to Colorado and took care of everything and then the rest of my siblings came out and we spread his ashes, etc, then loaded his stuff up and my twin brother and I drove it back to my moms house in Virginia. As less of you probably know, my older brother had 2 cars; a '99 Corvette and a '92 Supra Turbo. The Supra has been in my moms lower garage for years and the Corvette has been with him in Colorado. Anyways, got it all back home and I've been slowly working on it and while it hasn't been 'given' to me yet, it stays exclusively at my house and I'm the only one who uses it. So I figured I'd start a project thread. I haven't taken a lot of pics of what has been done so far, but I'll do better I promise.

Loaded it. This is the larger uhaul trailer and the tires rubbed on one side and you couldn't fit a pencil between the other tire and the other side. Uhaul trailers don't like 305s...



At a Cracker Barrell somewhere between Kansas City and St. Louis



You guys may notice the strange top. Sometime in the past 6 months the top flew off of his car and smashed the glass. My brother and I folded a tarp over the old frame, pulled it tight, taped it in place with duct tape and latched it in place with the factory latches on the frame. Held up perfectly for 1500miles and the inside didn't get wet at all. Currently looking for a cheap top, I'm not really interested in spending $700 on one right now.

The car had an aftermarket shifter at one time but all the threads had been stripped off at some point. Caught 2nd gear and the shifter came flying off. Ran a die over it to clean up and rethread it and bought a used shifter for $20.



The next step was cleaning the car up because it was NASTY. Cleaned the outside (which can be difficult with no top, gotta be careful with that water hose!), shampooed the carpets inside and went over the interior 4 or 5 times.





Windshield is busted in all the pics. New windshield went in Friday of last week. Replaced a few lights that were out and cleared some of the codes it was throwing so it would pass inspection.

Things that need to be sorted out:
1. Shifting into reverse. It wouldn't hardly go into reverse at all when I got it (which made it really interesting getting it on that trailer). I took the shifter off and lubed everything/fiddles with it and it will go into reverse just fine now so long as I go to 6th gear first and then into reverse. Not really sure what the problem could be but now that it will at least go into reverse reliably it's not very high on my list.
2. Center console latch needs to be replaced.
3. Intake is currently taped on and the latches that hold the filter in are broken. I have an old bridge from my old vette I'm going to replace it with, just have to find a filter first.
4. Hazard light button is missing, just bought one, gotta put it in.
5. TPMS are gone. May replace them if I find a good deal but I'm not going to pay full boat for them.
6. Service Column Lock displays every time you get in the car. The lock has been disabled but a $40 part will turn the warning off so I'm going to do that.
7. Traction Control switch needs replaced. It was broken when I got the car and the "service traction control" came on every time I started the car. I took it apart and cleaned it/tidied up the wiring and it works fine until I hit a big bump. It's pretty cheap to replace so I'm going to just change it out rather than try to chase down problems with it all the time.
8. Rear exhaust doesn't line up really well. Seems like a good reason to put in an X-pipe and cat-back system.
9. Car needs a top.

I'll keep this thread up as I do work on the car. It's only been washed once. I'm going to wash it another time or two then wax it.

1998 BMW 328i sedan, 5 speed manual, 164k highway miles. Power windows, locks, AC, cruise control, cd player, power drivers sear, and sunroof. Everything is functional on the car with the exception of the bulb behind the temperature gauge (it never bothered me enough to take a part the dashboard, plus you can still see it at night). 2 owner BMW car club of America owners, always well maintained and garage kept since I've owned it. The headlight have been upgraded to glass lense European lights. No accident history or paintwork, however the paint is far from perfect (as to be expected for a car of this vintage and mileage, it looks better in the pictures then it does in person). The leather on the drivers seat is in poor condition (but very comfortable).

In the past 12 months I have replaced the front brake calipers, brake pads, and rotors. I also have added new Bilstein HD struts with BMW M-sport springs. It also has an E36 M3 exhaust and transmission.

Also included is a set of snow tires (less than 200 miles of use) on an extra set of OEM wheels
