How do I get my motorcycle license?
Posted by: JackoliciousLegs - 09-08-2004, 11:58 PM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (14)

What are the options?

You can take the course which is impossible to get into except 6 months in advance or.....

can anyone outline each way?

  Thanks MM

After talking in front of new faces tonight, it really made me realize how much I appreciate this club. I'm not doing this to try to impress new people. I just have really enjoyed the interaction with the other members that I've had over the past 3 years. Somebody mentioned today that we rag on eachother all the time. I wouldn't feel myself if I didn't get made fun of for my gf (mike) or my car (everyone, RJ especially).

I gues I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the good times. I'm glad I have the opportunity to be an officer in such an awesome club. Have a great night.

PS Cheers to the OGs for starting this.

  E36 M3
Posted by: Big E - 09-08-2004, 10:28 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (17)

Hey folks, I want your opinion on this E36 M3 I am going to look at this weekend. It is a 1995 5-speed coupe in Dakar Yellow with 57K on the clock. I also checked CARFAX and it was clear (Thanks John Chapin). I was planning on going home to NOVA and taking a drive out to Manassas to check it out.

link

Some points I have been thinking about:
Bad:
1. Higher insurance rate
2. The Dakar Yellow will be screaming to the cops
3. Premium gas, not such a big deal in H'burg since the fuel is cheap
4. Cost of repair when necessary
5. RWD, i am not used to this, and i am unsure about this in inclement weather

Good:
1. Faster than CL
2. Not Automatic like CL
3. MUCH better handling than CL

#1-3 + Big E = FUN

I wanna hear your feedback about this M3.
Thanks.

Great first meeting! Thanks to all who came out and filled out the room. If you missed part of the meeting, just check out our Events section on here and let us know if you want to come to any events.

Jack, if you can post the meeting slides that would be great.

oops i missed the first meeting
Posted by: bostongreen - 09-08-2004, 08:18 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (10)

hey whats up my names ben and i accidently missed the first meeting tonight (i thought it was at 8, not 7). I just wanted to introduce myself since i wasn't there and want to join.

I'm into this motorsports thing. I drive a boston green 94 318ia. I worked as a mechanics assistant this summer so maybe i can lend a hand or knowledge at tech days.

I'm a freshman (living in eagle) so i don't have my car with me this year but i'm looking to put in some time with DEs so i can get credits for next year or just hang out and work autox, maybe even get to be a passenger for a run at the end of the day. Also, if i'm really lucky and can work it out to somehow have my parents come visit for a weekend i'll try and match it up with an autox and ask them to drive my car.

I noticed someone mentioned bimmerforums.com, i don't know how many of you post there but i'm bostongreen18 on bfc. I actually found out about mmsports from someone there but i forgot who.

I'll be checking back a lot to find out when the next meeting is, but is there any way i can officially join mmsports and pay my dues between meetings?

Stuntriding. Lets get something going in the Hbizzle
Posted by: Martin - 09-08-2004, 05:43 PM - Forum: Motorcycles - Replies (30)

I wanted to start a thread about something that I'm really passionate about and something I'd like to start in the JMU area.

Stuntriding is the single most fun thing you can do on a motorcycle. My friends and I used to do track days and this is 10 times more fun, and in my opinion, a ton more safe. We used to ride 5 nights a week in a big industrial parking lot, take it slow and critique each others riding. Its the most fun you will have on or off a motorcycle. I'm to the point where I don't ever ride on the street anymore, its too dangerous and nowhere near as fun.
The wheelies we do are super slow, which are actually a lot harder than fast wheelies but theyre really safe. My partners and I haven't really had any crashes.

I can help with setting up the bikes, I can build you a engine cage and a 12 bar for the cost of the steel.

hit me up on IM - 'usedcarking5000' I'd really like to get something going
peace
Martin

  'Rado SLC --- 2800. :-(

I swear to god, I'm going to not go to VW vortex anymore. I'm just not allowed.

I know nobody has any money for a project, least of all me. But, '93 Corrado VR6, right here in the 'burg, 2800 bucks. Needs a control arm, apparently, so 2800 is probably a little high considering the work to be done, but maybe he'd go lower?

*sigh*

*gathers self together* But my turbo KA will whup it's ass!!! Someday.
